Exactly What I Needed
I do live sound at a bunch of different local venues in NYC including a few old churches with questionable wiring. This thing has helped my troubleshooting tremendously. 5/5
Music background: Professional guitarist, engineer, producer
Simple Safe Smart
When you spend 1000's of dollars on you gear, it only makes sense to protect your investment.
This tester is a quick and easy way to verify you are plugging into a good outlet.
Many a venue has used free labor to tackle wiring jobs. Don't put the life of your gear in the hands of a novice.
It works
It works as advertised. It sure is rugged. It came packaged as a kit with other stuff I needed. I gave it to my daughter who is a masters licensed electrician.
Music background: Experienced
This a MUST in my toolkit!
Anything electrical begins with the power source. An absolute must to track noise, ground, and other electrical problems. Start with your practice room or home studio. You might be surprised to learn that they are not grounded or the outlets are wired wrong.

So, what if you get to the gig and this tool finds a problem, what to do? Sweetwater sells... goodie from Ebtech that plugs into the outlet, then plug your gear into the hum buster. One note of warning. It has an amperage ceiling of (15 or 20 amps?), so you may need more than 1 if you have a tube amp(s) and more. If every member in the band had at least 1 of the Ebtech hum units, that may be all you need. This is not a perfect solution, by any means, but it's an inexpensive start to, hopefully, have a quiet enough show for all to enjoy.

Only way to know for sure is to start with the Klein Outlet Checker.
Music background: Old enough to know what I don't know and barely young enough to remember
Don't be shocked
Had these in my gig bag for decades, you will be surprised at what's at a gig AC outlet. Some owner's aren't aware, this is good way to protect you and the owner.
