You Don’t Need to Fear This Reaper

Prepare to take a trip to the underworld with Schecter’s Reaper-6 FR S Elite. An outstanding collection of mahogany, maple, and wenge tonewoods facilitate a mellow acoustic tone, which easily converts to a balanced yet massively powerful metal output with the help of a San Andreas humbucker and Sustainiac pickup duo. When paired with a comfortable, fast-playing “C”-shape neck, this axe provides more than enough notational navigation for shred fanatics, tone chasers, and metalheads alike. Slap on the Reaper-6 Elite’s 1500 Floyd Rose bridge and Grover tuners, and you’ll be able to explore the tonal plane for hours in style — without having to sacrifice your intonation. Whether you plan to perform punk, metal, or classic rock, the Reaper-6 FR S Elite won’t go quietly.

Unadulterated tonewood performance

Khaya African mahogany, wenge, and ebony — it’s not a tonewood marriage that you see every day. However, rest assured, the Reaper-6 FR S Elite takes full advantage of this combo’s sonic abilities. While the mahogany body provides a relatively tight and mellow audial foundation, its wenge neck comes back to bite with a bright midrange tone, balancing out the Reaper-6 FR S Elite’s sound to a T. Although some players might prefer to cut through the Reaper’s powerful San Andreas and Sustainiac electronics system, Sweetwater guitarists have reported that playing this axe alone provides more than enough reason never to let go.

It’s all in the neck

The Reaper-6 FR S Elite’s wenge neck oozes fast-action maneuverability. Providing a sleek satin finish on its ultra-thin “C”-shape neck profile, this axe’s effortless navigation stands out among a score of other contemporary instruments. Its neck-through joint, in tandem with a double-cut body shape, also means you can get up close and personal with higher frets, making skull-splitting leads and upper-note bends as easy as pie. Better yet, you’ll benefit from the neck’s added structural integrity, which provides extra intonation support and the confidence that your guitar will remain in stable condition after years of extensive use.

USA SA and Sustainiac pickup combo pump out raw metal tone

A top-shelf combination of a San Andreas humbucker and Sustainiac pickup transforms the Reaper-6 FR S Elite into a versatile metal powerhouse. Heavy and articulate, this hot duo provides strong mids and highs while exhibiting dense low-end drive. The aggressive high-gain and attack provided by the San Andreas humbucker are perfect for traditional metal rhythms and leads and is brought to light by the Sustainiac's extra string vibration pickup. Looking to take control for yourself? No problem: slice through any sound these beauties have to offer by way of a 3-way pickup selector switch and dual push-pull volume and tone knobs.

Schecter Reaper-6 FR S Elite Electric Guitar Features:

  • 6-string electric guitar with decisive styling and appointments

Best guitar I own

The color on this guitar is so much better than the pictures. It is a really smooth playing guitar and the quality is top notch ! The Sustaniac pickup is really fun to play and sounds great in single coil mode as well. I am very happy with this purchase and want to send a thank you To Cory Medina for saving one of these for me and the great customer service ! I am a fan of Schecter guitars because you get so much for your money and they make quality guitars ! You can cover any type of music with this guitar with or without the Sustaniac, either is a great choice. Can't say enough good things about it ! You won't regret this purchase. Don't fear the REAPER !

great Guitar

I bought this last week on the demo page. It was listed as having scratches on it and was $ off. This guitar didn't have a mark on it ! It is such a smooth playing guitar and very responsive in every position including the coil split. The fretboard and neck are like glass and the SS frets are smooth with no sharp edges. The fretboard looks like it was conditioned already. I would definitely recommend this guitar for any level of experience. Cory Medina has been excellent for recommending everything I purchased from Sweetwater. His personal experience with products makes him one of the top sales engineers at Sweetwater. His customer service goes above and beyond what you would expect from Sweetwater. If you need a sales engineer, ask for Cory.

Most fun you can have on 6 strings!

I've had it for about 2 weeks now, bought a demo. This thing plays itself. The neck is silky smooth and slightly thinner and narrower than your typical strat which I really like, even for triads/barre chords it feels really natural. The floyd is effortless and holds tune even after heavy abuse (as it should). It even arrived in tune! Bending is very easy. The upper fret access is just absurd (I can get my first finger on the 24th fret without issue, not that I'd ever need to, but I can!). The fretwork was excellent, zero dead spots with only a tad bit of fret buzz on the open high E string with a harder pick attack (fixed by raising the action a smidge on the treble side), otherwise action was in a great place. I cannot find a flaw in the fit or finish. In terms of comfort, it's got contours in all the right places, with a bit of neck dive sitting with no strap. I've never played a guitar this easy to play.

The guitar sounds a tad bit beefier than your typical fender-scale humbucker equipped guitar in the bridge. It's great for leads, but I find myself having to just brighten up my settings a bit to compensate for rhythm. The sustainiac by itself sounds very good both clean and with medium or high gain, perhaps a bit warmer than your strat or tele, but it's not noticeable without a direct A/B comparison recording since pick attack still feels like a single coil. The middle position is a bit of a miss (I believe it's the full bridge + sustainiac in parallel). I'm unsure how sustainiac wiring works, but feel as though perhaps splitting the bridge in the middle position might have been a better call. Further, the volume and tone knobs don't do too much, it serves much more as "on" or "off" (although, this guitar isn't exactly catering to the "ride the volume knob" crowd).

The sustainiac is the best guitar innovation I've seen, especially as someone who likes sustain, but also likes trem systems. If you're specifically listening for it, you can hear the moment the sustainiac takes over (the tone becomes noticeably warmer on the fundamental mode), but using the harmonic mode/vibrato or a light pick attack eliminates that issue, and I don't notice when playing even on just stagnant sustained notes. This guitar allows for synth-like sustaining leads to be achieved on even moderate gain settings, and keeps the sound going through flutters and dive bombs. For leads with anything more than edge of break-up gain I don't think you can do better than this.

This is an absolute guilty-pleasure guitar that I'd reserve for lead playing or high gain, but even if schecter raised the price I would buy it again in a heartbeat!
