A great humbucking soundhole pickup!

Fishman's Rare Earth acoustic guitar pickup allows acoustic guitarists to quickly and easily plug into an amplifier, PA system, or direct box with no modification to their instrument. Simply pop the pickup into the soundhole and you're ready to plug in! A volume control offers on-the-fly control via a convenient thumbwheel. This Rare Earth pickup is humbucking, offering discerning guitarists hum-free operation. Neodymium (a rare earth element, hence the name Rare Earth pickup) magnets provide excellent string-to-string balance, while the discrete circuitry keeps the Rare Earth's signal pure and clean.

Fishman Rare Earth Humbucking Pickup at a Glance:
  • The Pickup
  • The Preamp

The Pickup
This Fishman Rare Earth pickup is a "stacked coil" style, for musicians who demand quieter reproduction than a single coil pickup can offer. A volume control offers on-the-fly control via a convenient thumbwheel.

The Preamp
The preamp is housed within the pickup. A low noise circuit design preserves the pickup's performance in any audio environment. The preamp allows you to plug the Rare Earth into a full range instrument amplifier, an unbalanced input of a PA system, a recording console or direct box, without the signal loss or degradation typically found with passive soundhole pickups. You may run cables up to 80' (25m) in length without any audible loss of fidelity.

Fishman Rare Earth Humbucking Pickup Features:
  • Cutting-edge neodymium (a rare earth element) magnets
  • Can be plugged into an instrument amplifier, sound reinforcement system, recording console or direct box
  • Miniature battery mounts conveniently on the underside of the pickup (batteries included)
  • Low current design of the preamp allows 300 hours use between battery changes
  • Fits in soundholes as small as 3-5/8" diameter
  • Pre-wired output jack can also be endpin mounted
  • Active electronics for a pure, clean sound
  • Excellent string-to-string balance
  • Easy installation with no alteration - plug-and-play right out of the box
Humbucking performance from the Fishman Rare Earth acoustic pickup!

Reviews

Great Pickup!!
It's a Fishman, of course it's AWESOME!! AND SO IS ERIC MATTHEWS from Sweetwater. Sweetwater is always my go to!! Thanks Again
Nice addition
I have an older guitar that the wood has opened up on and needed a better pickup. This worked great and sounds great
Music background: 35 years as a worship leader.
Fishman Guitar Pickup
I bought this pick up fo use at an open mike event outside. It worked perfectly. I couldn't have been happier with it. I am a non professional and new to this pickup choice. I plugged in to the live mixer and it sounded fantastic. My guitar is a Martin. I would definitely recommend this to anyone seeking a different live capability. It gave me no feedback and a great sound. Sweetwater was phenomenal as expected with customer support!
Fishman Rare Earth Blend Acoustic Guitar Pickup
I just installed one of these into my Iris DF acoustic guitar. After adjusting the mic and setting it for full bass and a little less then halfway on the Blend, The guitar sounds very good and the pickup will be usable for live performance as it is. After running it through my L.R. Baggs 'GigPro' preamp, It sounds absolutely amazing! Very much like my guitar but, louder! I am very happy that I did some research before buying this and I'm not disappointed. If there were anything I would change with this pickup, it would be to add a volume knob, have a way to unplug the cable from the pickup and an easier way to shorten the cable withought having to cut and solder it or bunch it up inside the guitar. I still give it 5 stars because I think it is probably one of the best systems out there and sounds great!
Music background: 47 years playing guitar including some band exp.
The only acoustic guitar pickup for me.
There's not a better acoustic guitar pickup made. I put this pickup in a Epiphone j-45. I play it 3 times a week at church. People tell me how much they like the sound of that guitar. The rare earth pickup has impressed me. Get one. You'll be glad you did.
Music background: Experienced

Want to make your guitar sound its best? Take it from the lifelong performers at Sweetwater and check out Fishman. If you've bought an acoustic-electric guitar, there's a good chance it came with Fishman electronics, but it's easy enough to upgrade your favorite instrument too - just ask the pros in Sweetwater's Guitar Repair Shop. Do you perform? Are you a singer/songwriter? We'd love to turn you on to Fishman's Loudbox amps and amazing pedals. But Fishman isn't limited to acoustic electronics. Many of us have tricked out our electric guitars with Fishman Fluence pickups and TriplePlay wireless MIDI systems too.
