Mere Mic Magic

What happens when sE Electronics and legendary electronics designer Rupert Neve team up to design a large-diaphragm tube condenser microphone? An all-out assault on the state of the art. The RNT incorporates a high-voltage tube circuit within the microphone body, a separate power supply sporting a discrete Class A amplifier circuit with the same custom op-amps as Rupert Neve Designs’ flagship 5088 mixing desk, two of Rupert’s custom transformers, and a custom sE mic capsule that delivers staggeringly high-bandwidth frequency response and enormous headroom. The Floor Box (power supply) gives you three gain settings and two switchable active highpass filters. A 9-way switch varies the polar pattern from omni to cardioid to figure-8, with three steps in between each setting.

Stunning clarity and dimensionality

The RNT is actually the third microphone in the fruitful collaboration between sE Electronics and Rupert Neve Designs, founded by the renowned pro audio designer Mr. Rupert Neve. Much like the RNR1 active ribbon mic and RN17 small-diaphragm condenser, the RNT is truly special, developed over several years of meticulous listening and measurement by Mr. Neve, Mr. Siwei Zou, and the engineering teams of Rupert Neve Designs and sE Electronics. The RNT delivers the larger-than-life sounds of coveted vintage tube microphones, updated for the modern studio with stunning clarity and dimensionality.

Legendary sonic character

If you're after huge-sounding vocals and instruments with audiophile-grade sonics, reach for the RNT. Its nuanced, silky top end is extended well past the range of human hearing. The mids are warm and clear. The bass is powerful and punchy. The RNT is ideal for everything from delicate, ambience-rich recordings to close-miking of voices and intensely loud instruments. You could even mic an entire symphony orchestra with nothing but three judiciously placed RNTs set to omni. Whatever the source, you'll always get eat-it-with-a-spoon results with the sE Electronics RNT

sE's finest capsule gives you access to nine polar patterns

It all starts with the finest (and most sophisticated) capsule sE has ever built. Handcrafted and individually tuned at the sE factory, the RNT's gold-sputtered 1" true condenser capsule features a sophisticated electrode design that delivers flawlessly natural sound quality. The precision tuning of the dual-diaphragm capsule makes it possible for you to choose the ideal polar pattern for every application from a 9-position rotary switch on the Floor Box front panel. The RNT's textbook cardioid pattern, for instance, is highly effective at minimizing off-axis pickup. Want to mix in a little room ambience? Dial it counter-clockwise (back towards omni). Add a taste of front- and rear-lobe bleed? Switch it clockwise toward figure-8.

The crowning touch for your mic locker

Engineers at Sweetwater are blown away by the incredible versatility of the RNT — not to mention the sound, which is heavenly. Bolstered by the legendary sonic character of Rupert Neve's famous transformers, the RNT has an alluringly rich, nuanced, and open sonic character that renders instruments and vocals in stunning, almost three-dimensional high fidelity. It delivers the performance you expect from the world's most renowned recording gear. With its lofty pedigree, the RNT is a crowning touch for any serious mic locker. Why not yours?

Modern Vocal Sound
If you're planning to make Modern Pop this microphone is going to be perfect for that. It has extreme clarity and a boost in the high end without being brittle, it has less warmth than something like a Neumann U87 but the closest parallel in terms of sound would be a Sony C800G. Please consider this microphone if you're making a Pop record!

Bro!!
Literally the best mic I have ever used. I'll be honest I am a bougie cork sniffing snob when it comes to gear. Knowing that a portion of this product was made oversees had me not excited and really skeptical. However, knowing SE has their own QAQC and owns their own factory I dropped my standard and gave it a shot. I have had so many mics over the years, you name it, if it was mentioned in a positive light on Gearspace, I tried it. It wasn't until I received this mic, that I said, "oh there it is".. I do hip hop/pop style music and that's the vibe I shoot for.. You're def. going to get modern out of this mic.. clear, bright, full. It's built so well and packaged as classy as they come. Don't sleep on the SE RNT collab! You won't be disappointed.

Game changer!!!
Completely worth every penny!! super good sounding, very wide range, silk high end, controlled bottom end, IN YOUR FACE vocals! detailed transients in acoustic guitars, incredible proximity effect, no DC Offset in Brass recordings, incredibly on strings, trumpets, etc... SUPER VALUE...
Had tested against a vast collection of high end mics double it in price range and this is there... highly recommend it, been using it about 6 months, very happy !!!

Best Mic For Me!!
I couldn't have asked for a better Mic than this.. the clarity is insane and its perfect for my voice. The best investment I've made on a mic so far and would definitely go for it again until another mic proves me wrong. Thanks Nick for this recommendation.. You've always made great decisions for me. Bless You!!!

Great natural sounding mic!
This is a very natural sounding mic - not "huge" or "warm" but true to the source. Fantastic on vocals, acoustic guitar, drum overheads or room. Takes compression and EQ quite well and makes things sit easily in a mix with little effort. The build quality is amazing and the features - polar patterns, high pass filters and gain cut/boost make it extremely versatile. Compares well to a U47 or U67 with a bit more "air" on the top and slightly less push in the mids. It's going to get a lot of use on my recordings.
