Fast and Furious

Featuring a fast maple Wizard III neck and jatoba fingerboard with a 15.7" radius, the Ibanez RGA42FML solidbody electric guitar is purpose-built for high-speed, low-drag playing. It all starts with a perfectly balanced RG meranti body topped with gorgeous flamed maple. You'll love how this guitar feels as soon as you pick it up. And it sports two hot Quantum humbucking pickups, ideal for rock, blues, and metal. You want a guitar that won't hold you back. Sweetwater has your axe: the Ibanez RGA42FM.

Classic RG performance

The Ibanez RG series of guitars has remained a standard in rock music for the last couple of decades, thanks to the effortless playability of its Wizard III neck. Switching between aggressive rhythm playing and fluid lead lines is effortless on this slim-profile neck. The guitarists here at Sweetwater love the feel and playability of Ibanez's RG guitars. You will too!

Fixed bridge stability for rock-solid tuning

The Ibanez RGA42FML sports a fixed bridge, which means no tuning hassles due to a floating vibrato. From standard to lowered tunings, your guitar's tuning will be more stable and the string tension will feel looser. When you change tunings at a gig you'll be ready to rock without messing with the bridge or locking nuts.

Gargantuan tonal range

With two Quantum humbucking pickups and 5-way switching, you'll be able to shape your tone any way you like on the RGA42FML. With its aggressive visuals and high output, it will forever be known as a rock guitar, however, the RGA42FML's fast playability and tonal variety make it a great instrument for almost any style.

Ibanez RGA42FML Left-handed Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:

  • Left-handed model
  • Classic Ibanez RG playability and looks at a wallet-friendly price
  • Well-balanced mahogany body topped with gorgeous flamed maple
  • Fast 3-piece maple Wizard III neck lets you set your own speed limit
  • 2 Quantum humbucking pickups and 5-way switching for a wide tonal range
  • Fixed bridge gives you top-notch tuning stability
  • An iconic rock guitar, but with playability that's perfect for blues and jazz too

Reviews

Amazing for the price

The playability, sound, fit and finish on this guitar at $ is amazing. It looks better in person than the photos. I would say it is closest to the Schecter C-1. Only drawback for me (as an advanced beginner) is the fret markers are not so easy to see. But this forces me to learn.

Ibanez RGA42
Bought this guitar October 2024. This guitar is a joy to play and solo on. The color on it also looks very nice in the sun.
Impressed
I have 9 electrics, the most expensive is a US Fender Tele. This new Ibanez is comparable to my PRS SE and Schecter C-1. What stands out the most to me is the pure value you get for $. Frets, action, cosmetics, playability, were all 10/10. Sound is a bit crisper than the Schecter. I think the most impressive thing is how much better it looks in person compared to the photos. When it arrived and I first saw it I hit the floor. I often go look at it when I'm not playing. If I could pick on anything, it would be that the fret markers are a bit hard to see. But one gets used to it; in fact it makes me know where my fretting hand needs to land without the help of markers.
