Packed with Stage- and Studio-ready Sounds

The Roland RD-08 digital stage piano arms you with the performance and reliability of the high-end RD-88 in a budget-friendly package with a streamlined feature set. Just like the RD-88, the ’08 sounds and feels like a real acoustic grand piano — all the way down to Roland’s expertly crafted PHA-4 action with hammer-action Ivory Touch keys and escapement. Under the hood, this 88-key stage piano boasts Roland’s Zen-Core sound engine and groundbreaking SuperNATURAL technology. You’ll be delighted as your music blasts out of the onboard speakers and fills the room with vibrant harmonic richness. You get an arsenal of amazing sounds, hands-on controls, and 3-zone integration with Apple MainStage (optional upgrade required). Plus, the lightweight, rugged design makes for hassle-free transportation that won’t break your back. And best of all, when when you’re ready, you can upgrade your Roland RD-08 to full RD-88 status with a simple software update!

Deluxe sounds and quick navigation

If you’re like the keyboardists here at Sweetwater, you love having tons of sounds at your disposal. Roland packed the RD-08 with a vast library of sounds courtesy of the ZEN-Core sound engine and SuperNATURAL technology. Fortunately, you don’t have to wade through a forest of confusing knobs and menus to access them. You get a range of legendary sounds, from acoustic and electronic pianos to organs and flutes. The RD-08 has a thoughtfully designed interface that keeps all the necessary controls within easy reach. It’s just as easy to dial up a new sound as it is to shape your tone and add extra effects on the fly. Need more sonic flexibility? You’re in luck, as the RD-08 also integrates with Apple MainStage (optional upgrade required) to control soft synths over three zones.

Authentic grand piano playing feel

When you feel connected to your instrument, you’re going to perform better. It’s as simple as that. Roland knows this as well, which is why they outfitted the RD-08 with their acclaimed PHA-4 keybed. Professionals all over the world rave about the PHA-4’s natural playability and smooth, reliable action. The Ivory Feel finish behaves like traditional ebony and ivory keys, gradually breaking in over time. Play your RD-08 for long enough, and it’ll feel just like the well-used piano you first learned on. With the RD-08, you get the playing experience usually reserved for premium acoustic grand pianos.

Take the stage with confidence

Just because the RD-08 has a refined playing experience doesn’t mean it won’t take a beating. In fact, it quite easily handles the rigors of the road. The slim, streamlined design easily fits in the back of the van and is an absolute breeze to set up. This stage piano also comes equipped with an integrated speaker system, which is super convenient for everything from intimate venues to solo rehearsals. Whether you’re a regular on the local studio and club scene or you’re touring around the world — the Roland RD-08 is ready to rock!

Reviews

Roland RD08
Really nice keyboard...Fast shipping and excellent transaction thanks to Branden.
How’d they do it?
There are a RIDICULOUS number of sounds in this piece. You can play 3 timbres at once, each with their own effect and eq before sending it to the shared chorus and verb. It feels great and weighs next to nothing. I can't say enough good things about this keyboard. And for the price-it's phenomenal. It's got an entire JV-1080 in one of the sound banks. With an inexpensive upgrade you can get their German Grand piano expansion and make it into an audio interface to use with your laptop. I use it 4 nights a week on my solo piano gig with tracks.
Music background: Touring professional. Currently with Carrie Underwood also playing solo 4 nights a week in Nashville.
RD-08 Stage Piano
It has been years since I have had access to a piano or organ. This keyboard actually more than I expected. although I did not see weighted keys mentioned, the feel of the keys are terrific. I don't play anything complicated. I wanted something I would not get bored with. Between the four different modes, this fills the bill. I am 72 years young. I highly recommend this instrument.
Music background: Rock Bands in Mid to Late 60's, Now retired and it's great therapy!
So much Bang for the Buck!
I can't believe all the great sounds and features they've packed in to this $ keyboard. It feels great, it's super light, 3 tones per scene at the ready to go between, and the editing is way deeper than I thought I'd get from a keyboard this cheap. There are a ton of great sounds in this thing. It's a little short on Wurlitzer sounds-that's the only drawback I saw. But the one it has is just fine. The music playback system is easy to use if you want to play along with stereo playback tracks. This keyboard is a winner.
Music background: Keyboards, Vocals, Carrie Underwood
This is what I've been waiting for! Thank you Roland!
"Simply" the perfect stage piano; affordable, lightweight, amazing Roland piano sound, great feel keyboard action, solid build, mighty good little onboard speakers, and most of all super easy to use on the fly (again "simply")
Love everything about the RD88 but I saved the $ on unnecessary sounds and somewhat clunky editing that I really don't need. RD88 is almost too much for people like me. Roland streamlined this board perfectly at a very fair price. The bonus is you can always add more if needed. My only complaint is very minor; I wish they used a universal power cord rather than a proprietary power adapter. Aside of that, Roland you got it right on the RD08. Love it!
Music background: Playing piano and organ for all for many many years.

Simply put, modern electronic music wouldn't exist without Roland. Many of the electronic musicians here at Sweetwater cut our teeth on TR Rhythm machines and fondly remember programming our first TB-303s. We owe a good part of our careers to this amazing and innovative company. It's been fun to watch and grow right alongside Roland, as they've introduced wave after wave of revolutionary keyboards, digital pianos, and more. For example, Roland's V-Drum Kits continuously redefine the possibilities of electronic drums, beginning with SuperNATURAL technology to the latest Prismatic Sound Modeling. We're huge fans, and we'd love to tell you all about them. Whether you want a pocket-sized synth or a cutting-edge video mixer, if Roland makes it, then Sweetwater is 100% behind it.
