A Lightweight Cart That's Strong Where It Counts!

Got drums, keyboards, PA, or DJ racks to move? Do your fellow band members vanish into the night at load-out time? Here's help on wheels! The compact Rock N Roller R2RT is tough enough to handle 350 lbs. of gear yet it only weighs 17 lbs. to make it easy to manage!

The Rock N Roller R2RT changes shape to meet your gear-hauling needs! Its 8-in-1 flexibility allows you to use the cart as a conventional 2-wheel hand truck or a 4-wheel carriage, all with a few quick adjustments. And here's the best part: the R2RT changes from 2-wheel to 4-wheel mode in about two seconds! This cart will quickly become as cherished as your favorite roadie.

The R2RT's frame telescopes easily from 26" to 39" in length. The cart's non-skid frame bed surface resists load slippage. In addition, the folding sides rotate and lock into position by simply pressing release cables. In 2-wheel mode the R2RT's long nose ergonomically pulls bulky loads toward you to make lifting easier. It also features specially designed 6" x 1.50" R-Trac rear wheels that are extremely strong, lighter than traditional pneumatic wheels, and will never go flat. Polyurethane tread bonded to a polymer hub rolls smooth and quiet.

Reviews

Get your pack down.
Drums are hard. Not just to play with facility, grace and musicality; they're a pain to haul around. I should know. I've been doing it for over forty years now: hard cases, soft cases, trap cases, stand cases, cymbal cases, pedal bags, hardware bags...you name it. Recently I got a specific bag just for my throne because the large seat top won't fit anywhere and the base weighs a ton when added to my stand case. Thankfully I ditched my drum rack years ago and I've got most of my current hardware set-ups down to single braced models. But I digress. Suffice to say we drummers haul around a lot. Sometimes more, sometimes less given, the situation. But it's almost always on the heavy side (if you want anything with durability and stability). And then there's the drums themselves.

Back in the real world, I saw all of my musical colleagues hauling their gear masterfully and with ease using one of these Rock N Roller Multi-Carts. At first glance, it's obvious that they are very well thought out and well manufactured (in Malaysia these days, apparently). I liked how they collapsed compactly while not in use and that they could be configured several different ways, sort of like the Swiss Army knife of equipment carts. My initial conundrum however was which model should I spring for. The larger ones would sort of defeat the purpose by adding more weight to my load, and anything too small wouldn't get the job done. So at 17 lbs. the R2RT seemed like an affordable way to dip my toe in the water with this thing and see if it would help me out in the least bit. The short answer is that yes, it did (and does). In fact, it almost never leaves my car now; I just leave it in there like a tire jack.

I use a variety of set-ups all the time, from little "bop" kits to a larger five piece with a few more stands. It's all over the place depending on the job. So the first thing I did when the R2RT arrived was to experiment, experiment, and experiment some more: Where and how to lay things on the cart, do I extend it or leave it compact, do I use it as a dolly or as a hand truck, etc. It took a little trial and error but I wanted to make sure I got the right model. All that being said, the Rock N Roller R2RT Multi Cart will work for you when you "get your pack down", so to speak. If stacking higher than the sides I would recommend using bungie cords or straps to keep everything locked down to the cart. And you don't want to be popping wheelies with your gear on it. Take it slow. Obviously if stairs are involved the hand truck configuration is probably a little easier. But if there's an elevator, an ADA ramp or a flat landing type of load-in, it's perfect. But let's face facts: The R2RT can only do so much and you may just end up having to make a couple of trips. But better a couple of trips with this cart than several without it. At this price, it's worth it. And your musculoskeletal components will thank you.

Assembly was quick and breezy right out of the box. The casters (which lock if you want them to) as well as the larger back wheels are excellent and will negotiate smoothly on just about any surface with the exception of gravel or sand. The frame finish (black powder coating) and metal components are all good. It seems sturdy to me and like it's built to last. The included non-skid tape is fine but somewhat pointless given the width of the frame. And the adhesive backing could be a little more industrial strength (mine started peeling up a bit while in the sun). Extending and collapsing the sides takes a little bit of elbow grease, but they start to free up a little after the first few uses. More importantly the versatility of this thing really does allow you the option to adapt to whatever size kit you'll need. Most of the time I extend it to the maximum 39" with both sides up. I'm also thinking this thing will come in handy for things other than drums and hardware down the line.

This R2RT claims to handle 350 lbs. and I have no doubt that it would. Drummers with larger size kits, hardware cases, etc. might want to think about one of the bigger Rock N Roller models since they extend farther, have higher sides, wider frames, bigger wheels and are rated for more weight. But for the kits and hardware in my arsenal the R2RT serves me perfectly, it didn't break the bank, and it was the right choice now that I've learnt how to tailor it to my needs. Schelp comfortably, my drumming brothers and sisters.

Just what I needed!
Two trips from my car with full small gig PA and bass rig instead of four or five trips? I'll take it! Well worth it! It fits in my compact car with all that stuff I mentioned, too. Should've got one long ago.
AWESOME LITTLE CART
I just received mine today (1-17-2023)

Testing it out and it works great!!!

Nice little cart
This is a nice cart for light to medium duty work. It rolls nicely across pavement and is easy to get through doors and elevators.
I am 6 feet tall and wish the back rail were a bit higher as I have to lean over a bit to push it. Otherwise, I have no complaints.
Multi Cart
Great product and easy to use.
