Purpose-built driver design
The heart of the Prime Center is its thoughtful 3-way driver design. On the low end, dual 5.25-inch woofers equipped with long-stroke motors, lightweight polypropylene cones, and aluminum shorting rings help support a bass frequency range that extends down to 48Hz. Middle frequencies are handled by a distinct 3.5-inch midrange driver, sealed in its own enclosure to ensure vocals and dialogue remain uncolored by other driver behavior. Up top, the 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter (with FEA-optimized diffuser) rounds out your setup with crystal-clear high-frequency detail. Critically, the midrange driver and tweeter are vertically aligned, reducing the horizontal lobing and comb filtering that can plague other center-channel speaker designs. Finally, SVS’s proprietary SoundMatch 3-way crossover ties the system together with its precisely tuned 350Hz and 2.4kHz crossover points, 12dB/octave slopes, and premium-grade capacitors, air-core inductors, and heavy-trace printed circuit boards (PCBs).
