Time-honored, Fully Customizable BOSS Tone-shaping Power

For decades, Roland and BOSS have shaped the sound of modern music with groundbreaking instruments, effects, and tools — from synths and drum machines to legendary guitar pedals. The PX-1 Plugout FX pedal carries that legacy forward as a pint-sized powerhouse packed with 16 iconic sound-sculpting effects drawn from BOSS’s storied history. A vivid LCD pairs with three responsive controls that adapt in real time to the selected effect, while Adaptive Focus (AF) processing delivers stunning fidelity and near-silent operation that has Sweetwater’s gigging guitarists raving. With USB-C and TRS-MIDI connectivity, true-stereo I/O, Bluetooth support, and a multimode Control/Expression input, the PX-1 is a compact yet prismatic platform for limitless pedal-powered creativity.

Note: Adding and managing effects requires the BOSS Effect Loader iOS/Android mobile application. Existing Roland Cloud customers can log in with their current credentials or create a free login. This pedal includes a 6-month membership of Roland Cloud. Please contact your Sweetwater Sales Engineer with any questions.

Supercharge your sound with 16 historic pedals

The PX-1 arrives loaded with history, featuring eight legendary BOSS pedals spanning classics and everyday essentials. Using the BOSS Effect Loader app, you can add eight more, filling the pedal’s user-assignable presets for effortless customization. From the groundbreaking originals circa 1977 to the ’90s-era PN-2 tremolo/pan, each virtual pedal has been meticulously recreated to deliver authentic, time-honored tones.

Eight included pedals

  • OD-1 Overdrive (1977)
  • SP-1 Spectrum (1977)
  • PH-1 Phaser (1977)
  • CS-1 Compression Sustainer (1977)
  • TW-1 T Wah (1977)
  • DS-1 Distortion (1978)
  • SG-1 Slow Gear (1979)
  • SD-1 Super Overdrive (1981)

Additional pedals via the BOSS Effect Loader app

  • CE-2 Chorus (1979)
  • BF-2 Flanger (1980)
  • VB-2 Vibrato (1982)
  • DD-2 Digital Delay (1983)
  • DF-2 Super Feedbacker & Distortion (1984)
  • OC-2 Octave (1984)
  • PS-2 Digital Pitch Shifter/Delay (1987)
  • PN-2 Tremolo/Pan (1990)

Cutting-edge processing technology

Beneath the PX-1’s familiar form factor, you’ll find a kaleidoscopic array of processing power. A crystalline 48kHz sampling frequency complements the 32-bit DA conversion, while the A/D input conversion pairs 24-bit processing with Roland’s and BOSS’s proprietary AF technology — a state-of-the-art method of drastically improving the signal-to-noise ratio of AD/DA conversion.

Effortless interfacing and comprehensive control

While the BOSS Effect Loader app expands your arsenal with additional pedals and deep parameter control, the PX-1 also delivers outstanding connectivity. A 3.5mm TRS-MIDI input makes syncing with hardware or software effects effortless, while the USB-C port connects directly to the app, supports MIDI, enables software updates, and doubles as a power source. Built-in Bluetooth adds wireless MIDI functionality and allows you to manage the pedal from your smart device. Finally, the tactile, face-mounted encoders — each fully clickable — give you precise hands-on control of every parameter, eliminating the need for tedious menu-diving.

BOSS PX-1 Features:

  • Multimode pedal powerhouse with customizable digital effects, faithfully modeled and reproduced from an array of iconic BOSS pedals
  • 8 onboard pedals are hard-coded inside to give you myriad sound-shaping possibilities: OD-1, SP-1, PH-1, CS-1, TW-1, DS-1, SG-1, SD-1
  • 8 user-assignable preset slots let you tailor your tone-crafting experience to suit your sonic needs
  • Accompanying BOSS Effect Loader iOS/Android app makes pedal management and lineup a breeze, offering access to CE-2, BF-2, VB-2, DD-2, DF-2, OC-2, PS-2, and PN-2 options
  • 3 face-mounted encoders are fully clickable for effortless navigation of pedal-specific parameters
  • Vivid LCD provides essential, streamlined information that mitigates the need for menu diving
  • Versatile I/O accommodates mono and stereo audio, in addition to a multifunctional 1/4-in. input for control or expression pedals
  • Malleable MIDI interfacing via 3.5mm TRS, USB Type-C, and Bluetooth ensures comprehensive control or clocking in numerous software, hardware, and hybrid arrangements
  • USB-C port doubles as a power inlet, while supporting direct connection to the Effect Loader app and firmware updates
  • 48kHz sampling frequency and 32-bit D/A conversion guarantee uncompromising signal preservation and sonic fidelity
  • 24-bit A/D conversion utilizes the proprietary Adaptive Focus method from Roland/BOSS to dramatically improve signal-to-noise ratios

Reviews

A Boss effects history lesson!
This pedal is awesome! It's like a history book of boss effects, some way out of reach for most people. It's a joy to use and experience these legendary Boss effects. Stacked with the companies very first 16 effects makes it well worth the buy. And there is more to come!
Best Pedal
I read alot of bad reviews because I think at first they were charging for the extra pedals, but I was able to add pedals for free with the app. The only downside is that although you could add this pedal to your pedal board, you cannot combine the pedals within this pedal at the same time. Basically you can only bring up one pedal at a time. I also bout the EV-5 Effect pedal so i can control any of the setting on each pedal with the effects pedal such as volume, gain, wah,etc..

Great for a traveling gig and just need to bring a single pedal.
Perfect
I like swapping pedals between vibrato, chorus, phaser, etc. to the difference. So easy. You Tubers want you to subscribe, they like to create drama, they make money off of drama regards to this pedal. Once the "pedal" is loaded, you don't need another device. Perfectly meets my needs.

Don't Believe The Clickbait - This Is A Must Have

Firstly, the pedal review. It's awesome. The eight basic effects that come stock are stellar. Sound Gear is mind blowing for violin type lines and volume swells. Spectrum is a very cool boost / overdrive that doesn't really have an equal. I like the digital compressor CS-1 in the PX-1 pedal more than I like the old, analog, blue CS-1. The list goes on and on. This is an easy to use great sounding pedal. The fact that you get 16 classic BOSS effects for $ is a bargain. The interface alone makes this worthwhile. Plus, you don't need to upgrade your power supply or carry a separate wall wart like you do with so many of the multi fx boxes. This pedal works with your existing power brick.

As for the negative reviews on social media. Creators need content. That's all that is. The fact that anyone is complaining about voluntary $ micro transactions when they're forking over $ for a digital effect box is hilarious. Micro transactions - for effects you actually want - make a whole lot more sense than paying $ for a multi effect with hundreds of amps, effects, IR's that you will NEVER use and that is guaranteed to be 100% obsolete in 6-7 years. Anyone that disagrees with that fact is simply horrible at math.

I understand that Multi Effects have their place in the world. But this pedal is for the analog player that is still plugging in to a real amp and needs to fill a few gaps on their velcro pedal board with one pedal. They want ease of use, on the fly adjustments, no deep dives and do not want to pay for a bunch of digital stuff that will never, ever, ever get turned on. You can buy this today and be gigging it tonight. Try that with one of the multi effects boxes.

I had this out of the box, app uploaded on my phone and new effects downloaded to the PX-1 within 15 minutes. I spent another 10 minutes learning how to cruise through each effect and then another 20 minutes setting up an expression pedal on each modifiable effect. It's the most simple set up for a multi effect in all of digital pedal-com.

I have several pedal boards. This pedal will be finding a spot on every single one of them. Five Stars!!!

Compact and Useful
I have been using the PX-1 since August and have really enjoyed cycling through the available effects. Being able to quickly switch between the effects and save the two presets is quite simple. For ease of use, I utilize a Boss FS-7 to seamlessly switch between two presets (the FS-7 does not require being powered.)

Future digital downloads for the PX-1 are optional but I already have my eye on one of the 2026 releases. For me, the PX-1 is a keeper.
