Unlock Your Double-locking Trem’s Full Potential

Tired of breaking out the hex keys every time you need to change strings? Graph Tech’s Un-Lock Nut represents a seamless and effortless alternative to traditional locking nuts. Intended to be paired with locking tuners, the Graph Tech Un-Lock Nut retains all the tuning stability of a standard double-locking tremolo unit while allowing you to quickly restring your guitar and make tuning modifications using your tuning pegs. Moreover, while many locking nuts can be tricky (or even impossible) to properly adjust for nut action or fingerboard radius, our expert luthiers in the Sweetwater Guitar Workshop love how the Un-Lock Nut’s TUSQ XL construction allows all the same adjustability as a traditional guitar nut. This makes it a breeze to exactly modify the Un-Lock Nut’s slots to perfectly match your respective instrument’s specs. Lastly, the Un-Lock Nut’s extended string ramps distribute tension from the string more evenly, while the nut’s self-lubricating qualities supply friction-free sliding of the string for exceptional tuning stability.

Note: While the Graph Tech Un-Lock Nut is designed to seamlessly swap out with many standard locking nuts, it’s always a good idea to give your Sweetwater Sales Engineer a call at (800) 222-4700 to ensure aftermarket parts are compatible with your guitar.

Graph Tech Un-Lock Nut Features:

  • Replaces your locking nut with a standard TUSQ XL nut, providing all the stability of a double-locking trem system along with the adjustability of a traditional nut when paired with locking tuners
  • Allows you to adjust your double-locking tremolo’s tuning and change strings without breaking out additional tools
  • Elongated string ramps and self-lubricating construction offer slick and friction-free gliding of the string over the nut, ensuring rock-solid tuning stability
  • Can be filed and modified for optimal nut action and to match your guitar’s respective fingerboard radius — all but impossible on a standard locking nut
  • Easily installed in the same manner as a traditional guitar nut

Outstanding! Does what it says! Needs mounting screws from factory
I decided to try one out and it wasn't quite the right size. On the bottom side are reference holes for drilling where locking nut mounting screws can go. I think screw holes should just be the factory option. Gluing a nut on the large shelf with open screw holes seems like a lot riskier than the relatively smaller basic sized nut. With the screws I was able to shim it like a locking nut and not have to pull out the nut files. Please make this an option with included screw, Graphtech! I want to do this to all of my Floyd guitars!
Great fit but one small detail is missing.
Nice to have an option beside a locking nut. Fit is good and was just slightly oversized for the guitar I put it on. A little bit of filing and a quick sand around the edges makes it look and feel good. I did drill and tap 2 holes into the nut like what was there to secure it. This is easy (with the right tools) but would have been nice if they were pre-drilled as an option. That would have been 5 stars then.
