Classic T-style Electric Conjures Vintage Tone and Playability

If you’re jonesing for vintage T-style tone and playability, the Schecter PT Van Nuys will more than satisfy your cravings. The Van Nuys is made from a lightweight, resonant ash body with a roasted maple neck and fingerboard, a tonewood combo that positively oozes rich midrange and punchy treble through and through — that same tone that Pete Townshend fell for all those decades ago! All that lush tonewood resonance is translated beautifully via dual Schecter USA SuperRock Vintage pickups, which are faithful re-creations of a 1980s design made popular by The Who and their legendary lead guitarist — and once you hear them through your favorite amp, you will hear why. You also get stellar sustain support on this rocking axe, thanks to a Diamond Vintage Tremolo bridge.

Roasted neck and fingerboard

By roasting the maple neck and fingerboard on the PT Van Nuys, Schecter made a good thing only better. The roasting removes any impurities left behind in the natural curing process, giving the maple more overall resonance. And the Thin “C” profile of this sumptuous neck feels amazing in your hand, ideal for hard-hitting chords and lead runs up and down the fingerboard. All those chords and leads find their sweet spot easily thanks to the 22 X-Jumbo frets — a favorite among guitarists here at Sweetwater.

Pair of humbuckers designed for powerful tone

You will get lost in an absolute forest of tone with the pair of SuperRock Vintage pickups in the Van Nuys. These vintage-heavy humbuckers are wound for detail and power. With Alnico Vs and a direct-coupled construction, these pickups not only deliver classic humbucker tone, but they are anchored to the body and neck for an even more intimate connection that translates to even better sonic results. And with a split-coil design and a 5-way switch, you can tap some juicy single-coil bite and bark along with more subtle, smooth textures suited for everything from jazz to blues to ambient.

Schecter PT Van Nuys Solidbody Electric Features:

  • Vintage-inspired T-style solidbody loaded with features for classic tone and playability
  • Lightweight, resonant ash body with a roasted maple neck and fingerboard for rich midrange and punchy treble
  • Dual Schecter USA SuperRock Vintage pickups deliver classic humbucker tone
  • Split-coil design and 5-way switch for juicy single-coil bite and bark along with more subtle, smooth tones
  • Roasting process on neck and fingerboard removes any impurities left behind in the natural curing process, giving the maple more overall resonance
  • Thin “C” profile neck ideal for hard-hitting chords and lead runs up and down the fingerboard
  • Diamond Vintage Tremolo bridge for stellar sustain support

Nicely Done Schecter!

This is my first Schecter guitar, what caught my eye was the really nice cosmetics and nice feature set at a great price. I had to return one as the first incurred some damage in shipping, but as usual Sweetwater was right there to get things right. Both had beautiful wood grain in the tops and the necks were also beautiful, very rich brown coloring. Overall, I'm really enjoying the guitar and it may be one of the best bang for the buck guitars I've ever had. I have a standard tele, I was looking for a more modern take and this handled that in spades. The 5-way switch and USA made Schecter pickups really make it a very versatile guitar. The tremolo exceeded my expectations for a guitar at this price point. The neck is really smooth and combined with the jumbo frets it's effortless to play. Great guitar, giving it 4 stars only because I think the guitar should at least have a gig bag. Highly recommend this guitar if you are looking for a high quality guitar for an affordable price. Nicely done Schecter!

No Joke

Here I go. I have been a guitarist for over 61 years. In fact it was the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show that got me started. In these many, many years I have own some amazing instruments. I have owned several Tom Anderson's and Shur. So, on a whim I order this Schecter PT Van Nuys after watching several Youtube videos. I have one word. SWEET! Very Sweet. Everyone says its a great guitar in this price range. Im telling you it is an amazing guitar in any price range. The USA pickups sing, the Roasted maple neck is as smooth as glass and the xtra jumbo frets allowed me to lower the action just a bit and still have plenty of room to stretch the strings. The head stock caught my eye right off the bat. Do not hesitate, with Sweet waters return policy, you should really try one of these out..

I love it

I'm a novice. It's my first big purchase. I love the thin neck and overall feel of it. Mine is a little on the heavy side at 8lb 15 oz. It does resonant very well. That's the first thing I noticed. I was playing a Squier Start before this so there was a big difference.

Schecter PT Van Nuys

As much as I like Fender telecasters, This Schecter blows it out of the water! Sound, versatility and quality is outstanding. It screams when I need it yet has the smooth tones of a PRS 594...Why spend $100's more on a Fender?

Outrageous value and versatility.

Beautiful gloss ash body, flawless construction and playability. This guitar is amazing for the money , the pickup are medium output I guess, and warm sounding and sound best in full humbucker mode. They also sound convincing in single coil mode, I never use coil taps but these are pretty good. A little weak in single coil mode . As humbuckers they're awesome , smooth and creamy even on my solid state amps . The satin neck is perfect, no sharp frets and very comfortable , the roasted maple looks cool too . The two point tremolo works good for the way I use it and stays in tune , it's not a Floyd Rose so dive bombs not so great ,but you can get pretty aggressive with it , it just doesn't like when you take all the tension off the strings. One warning , this thing is HEAVY!!!! I like a guitar with some weight and mine came in at just over nine pounds. I knew this in advance but if you have back issues this isn't the guitar for you. As usual Matt and the team at Sweetwater delivered with excellent service, the guitar came set up great and needing no fine tuning. Awesome.
