Not known to many, Schecter actually began making waves in the early '70s for their hand-wound pickups and pioneering tapped-coil design. The Pasadena VT-1 in the neck position of the PT Custom SS features copper-plated steel baseplates, vintage fiberboard bobbins, and Alnico V hand-beveled pole pieces that work in tandem to kick out authentic single-coil tone — punchy, a bit crunchy, and articulate. The VT-1 is complemented by the chrome-capped VS-1 that boasts a similar design — it has a slightly larger spacing for when you want to go into overdrive and maintain crisp tone but with a bit more wallop.
