T-style Black Beauty Made in the Sun

Since 1984, Schecter's T-style wunderkind has been one of the most popular guitars in their entire lineup — and for good reason. This PT USA T-style electric guitar has a low-profile, fast, C-shaped hard rock maple bolt-on neck that is substantial but incredibly playable, and its Crème-bound alder body delivers plenty of resonance and sustain for chunky rhythms, tapping harmonics and searing solos. It's stacked with dual Superrock Vintage Humbuckers that accommodate coil-tapping and employs Schecter/Hipshot staggered locking tuners for superior tonal stability. The PT's 22 Jescar premium German silver frets feel superb, and along with the beautiful maple fingerboard, they provide a smoothly polished foundation for confident performance. And guitarists at Sweetwater love the fact that the Schecter PT USA is made right here in Sun Valley, USA.

Retro roots, modern form factor

No, this isn't a Telecaster — but as most guitarists are aware, it's modeled after the one Pete Townshend played later in his famous band's heyday — hence its acronym appellation. But back in 1984 Schecter made it their own, from the headstock to the double end-pin setup for ergonomic flexibility. Add in the rock-solid PT-H bridge, Tone and Volume knob placement, and the 3-way toggle switch pickup selector, and you have a distinctive T-style guitar that knows where it came from but is also proudly unique.

Hardwoods and satin finish for exemplary resonance and feel

The PT's alder body resonates with the richness and brightness alder is known for — and it won't cut off the circulation to your arms halfway through your gig, either! It's surrounded with Crème binding and paired with an amazingly strong, Custom C-shaped, dense hard rock maple four-bolt neck with a fast vintage satin finish that makes fluid scale work and lightning-fast chord progressions a breeze. And Vintage Dot inlays complement the maple fingerboard and headstock just right, standing out in appealing contrast to the body's opaque finish.

High-value hardware and electronic versatility

The Schecter/Hipshot staggered locking tuners help keep this T-style guitar in perfect tune, even under heavy playing with aggressive string bends, making it suitable for a wide variety of music styles. All the hardware — from the tuning pegs to the bridge and pickup covers — is done in striking gloss black. With their four-conductor harness design and Alnico V coupled construction, the PT's hand-wound Vintage Superrock humbucking pickups work beautifully with the Tone knob's pull-out split coil function, creating all kinds of musical possibilities with retro response and tone.

Quality without the frills

Great, solid custom shop guitar. Build quality is amazing on this guitar, and I appreciate the subtle attention to detail such as the elegant binding, quality controls, and lightly sanded neck for greater control. Fretwork is smooth, but should be expected at this price point. I personally don't find the pickups to be too hot, which leads to nice versatility between cleaner and heavy tones. The neck shape allows for great grip, with it thinning out towards the higher frets for easier access. I personally like heavier gauge strings on this one.

Unbelievable Machine

I bought this guitar years ago and have played several gigs with it, it plays remarkably well and is extremely versatile in terms of the tones you can get. I'm always looking for a guitar that allows for clarity at higher gain levels but also allows you to roll back the volume and clean things up. Its articulate, well balanced, and has sustain for days. The build quality is also great considering the price point on this guitar is far less than others I have played that are double the price and don't feel or sound half as good.

Best guitar I've ever owned!

Being a longtime massive fan of The Who, ever since I saw Pete Townshend sling one of these over his shoulder in the early 80's I was hooked. I was just a little kid then but I never stopped longing for this sleek black "super-tele". There's been some minor changes to the guitar since it's inception with Townshend (ie: controls are now angled opposed to the straight-lined tele setup. And no longer is it fitted with a Tele headstock) but it's still clearly identifiable as the Pete Townshend Eminence Front axe.
Fit and finish is as expected, superb. The playability is incredible. I'm not a fan of super low action because I don't like any buzz even if it isn't heard through the amp, but this guitar's action is lower than my usual setup specs but it works with this guitar due to its impeccable fretwork. There's no buzz at all. The hard rock maple neck feels great as well. It's not a thin neck by no means but its not a fat neck either. It fill the hand perfectly while staying out of your way while playing. It's extremely stable, and paired with the Alder body it's a tried and true rock machine. The proprietary Schecter SuperRock pickups produce massive tone with excellent articulation and clearity. The push/pull coil split is actually a functional tone as well and I usually hate coil splitting but it really works here. It's a fingerprint magnet but I don't care. Its what you sing up for when buying a high-gloss black guitar. Its got some weight to it (about 8 lbs) but not as bad as a LP. It's an eye-catcher. People always comment on it. Seriously though, it's just a badass guitar! I already put a ding on the side since I've owned it and it made me feel terrible at first. Then I thought to myself, "its a Pete Townshend guitar (hence the PT in its name) it has to at least have dings on it. He's not too careful with his guitars

A Wonderful Guitar

Les Paul too heavy, won't stay in tune, and expensive? Fender too thin sounding? Want a workhorse that will do it all in the studio and on the stage? GET THIS GUITAR! Pics don't do justice to the quality, feel, and beauty of this deceptively "minimalist" guitar. There is a reason Pete Townshend played these back in the day. This is a professional guitar that can truly do it all and do it well. if I could only have one guitar this would be the one I'd keep. Its perfectly balanced in every way.
