Hot-rodded construction

Inspired by souped-up and highly modified rock guitars, the Sun Valley Super Shredder PT FR S exudes a no-nonsense, high-performance attitude. Its black pickguard, hardware, and electronics sit on a comfortable mahogany T-style body. A bolt-on maple neck features a comfortable Thin C contour and a fast-playing 22-fret, 14"-radius fingerboard. And the SVSS PT FR S's neck heel is beautifully contoured, allowing unrestricted access to the guitar's highest frets.

Incredibly powerful electronics

Schecter tapped EMG Pickups and the Sustainiac company to supply the Sun Valley Super Shredder PT FR S's horsepower. EMG's Retro Active humbucker utilizes a specially designed FET preamp system and passive-style coils for a tone that boasts vintage clarity and modern power. The neck-position Sustainiac humbucking pickup delivers near-infinite sustain and thick feedback with a flip of a switch. And a simple-to-use 2-knob control layout works in conjunction with a 3-way toggle switch to access a wide variety of tones.

Schecter and Floyd rose have partnered to bring you the Floyd Rose Hot Rod double-locking tremolo for a new level of control and stability. It's Got a Surprise.

This is my 3rd Schecter, this in 22 frets Sea Foam Green. The look and the craftmanship are impeccable. An ok feel. Stays in tune extremely well and the Floyd rose, when adjusted, is perfection! Got a big surprise when I plugged in - called Schecter tech thinking the pickups had been wired wrong but I was the one that was wrong. They have no tone knob! Instead, they have two volume knobs and a three way selector switch. If you turn one of the pickups completely off then you can use the selector switch as an actual "Ace Frehley" kill switch. The problem for me is the tone of the EMG's combined with the Sustainiac. My usual normal tone is a sort of Joe Satriani, Vai, sound and some John 5 when I'm playing the heavy stuff. That would be the middle Schecter guitar, which I play the most and I've set the electric magenta guitar up for clean stuff. This sea foam PT FR Sustainiac doesn't really jive well with what I play, my style. I think however, it would be perfect for some chunky metal stuff?! All played out today so tomorrow I search for a clean tone on this PT. This is NOT a bad review of the guitar. I'm saying it has uses that a more metal player would really love. So I'm going to find a sound for this or replace the pickups at some point with ones like the middle guitar - but this baby is a keeper. It is sooooo beautiful and so well built! I've seen the youtube vids where they're playing a clean tone so WHEN I find it, this would be a 4.7 out of 5.0 for the Sea Foam Green PT FR S.

This is a unique instrument - plays wonderfully, power-house levels

There is no tone control. Be aware of that. The trem block is hefty. The neck position sounds like a high-wind single coil - mid position sounds like a les paul - bridge is where you can rock out. Sustainer is great, get a fret-wrap if you want to really use it to its potential. Overall this is an excellent guitar. The neck and frets are perfect (for me) and the playability is solid. Just don't get this if you want a mellow sound. If you like low-output pickups this is not for you. If you like high output active pickups this is a jewel. Knobs control volume on each pickup - switches turn on the sustainer (only using the neck pickup) and 3-position for harmonics. This sustainer is HOT. So in summary while I have experienced enough guitars to know this would not be a good fit for everyone, I absolutely love it. I have 13 guitars. All are awesome. This is VERY different and is a hot-sound sports car of a guitar.
