Perfect Solution
Recently I decided to pair a midi controller with my HX Stomp for more flexibility. This meant sizing up my small DIY board to 13" x 17". Which also meant I needed a new gig bag. Decided to go with this Pedaltrain MX Softcase. It is a perfect fit, with a large outer pocket that is big enough for my iPad and cords or even my laptop, if needed. I had a Gator case for my prior board, which was fine, but not made specifically for a board. This PT option has more padding and rubber feet on the base. Thanks to Chris Lewis for making sure I ordered the correct item!
Good pedalboard bag
I needed a pedalboard bag for my DIY board (after trying a couple of other sub-optimal solutions like carrying my pedal board in a gym bag!) IMHO, if you have a pedalboard, you need a legit case if you're going to take it anywhere. The dimensions on this bag fit my board, and I'm really happy w/ the purchase. Plenty of padding yet plenty of structure, and the beefy zipper and large pocket on the front are great. I can put sheet music or even a binder in the front pocket. The shoulder strap and overall padding of the bag make light work of a very heavy wooden DIY board. I'm really glad I picked this up!
Nice case but....
It's a good way to transport your pedals. I can't speak to the water resistance since mine hasn't been exposed to rain but I wouldn't be concerned with my pedals getting wet should I get caught in a storm.
The zippers are great, big and durable. I'd seen reviews complaining about them being rough to open so I rubbed a bit of Vaseline on them before attempting to open them and so far they've both worked smoothly. (The great thing about zippers is they can be made smooth with a number of products...bar soap, a waxed candle, WD40, etc so a sticky zipper issue is easily resolved). Back to the case. The pocket located on the outside is roomy and large enough to hold cables, extra batteries tools, and still have room for anything else you might need.
Now the cons: There's way too much room inside this case for this particular pedalboard. I've purchased multi-effect units with their own soft cases so I'm well aware of how they're supposed to fit. This case almost seems as if it were made as a general case for anything. I understand that pedals come in all shapes and sizes, but there's so much room that I intend on adding 2" of padding all around to take up room so the pedalboard and pedals don't flop around inside. Since the pedals aren't held firm, when they hit against the top of the case it causes the knobs to move...a lot! It's really frustrating because you can't keep your "sweet" settings and that's frustrating if you have to set up and play quickly because it can take awhile to dial your sounds back in.
My other issues with this case 1) as nice as it is to have an outside pocket it's also a bit irritating because the weight of that pocket causes the bag to topple over when I sit it down on its side so I always have to have something to lean it against. 2( If I open the case in a chair and attempt to remove the pedalboard the back side of the case is so weak it folds in on itself and on top of my pedals while I'm trying to remove the pedalboard from the case. It's so frustrating I've been wrecking my brain to think of what I can install in the case to prevent this from happening. I was considering thick plastic like they used to use to line soft shell luggage but then I remembered how much heavier it made my carry-on bag. Not only that but it won't do anything to resolve the issue. I've finally decided to apply 2" thick dense foam sound insulation, the eggshell kind with the points facing inside against the pedalboard, just to take up vacant space. Hopefully it'll also prevent the back from collapsing inside while I'm removing the pedalboard. If it works this case will be perfect!

5 stars for the bag, but overpriced
The bag itself is great. I have an older Pedaltrain model that came with the original style bag. That bag was of low quality and the zippers barely lasted me a year of light use (just at home, never out of house). This new version of the bag is great. The zippers appear to be of much higher quality and even the material seems more sturdy.

But the price... I almost bought the hard case, just because it seemed like a better value. Pedaltrain shouldn't charge so much for a bag when their original low quality bag left many of us needing a replacement.
Just okay.
I got about 3 months with 4 to 7 gigs a week before both zippers broke. It won't stand up on its own if you have anything in the side pocket, which I found slightly disappointing. Other than the zipper, it's a well made case and I would recommend it to the player who isn't doing a lot of heavy or daily gigging.
