The Ultimate Entry-level Portable Arranger

Yamaha's PSR-E283 is a 61-key portable arranger keyboard designed specifically for those just beginning their musical journey. It's packed with everything you need to create great-sounding musical pieces from scratch, including realistic instrument voices, onboard lessons, and a Smart Chord function that helps you play complex chords with just one finger. There's also a Style function that automatically delivers rhythm and bass accompaniment; musicians here at Sweetwater are particularly keen on how this allows you to achieve a full-band sound on your own. As far as a versatile beginner keyboard that's packed with supportive appointments, the Yamaha PSR-E283 sits at the top of its class.

Explore, create, and store your own sounds

To keep your creative juices flowing, this arranger comes with a formidable set of features. It's all powered by Yamaha's AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) stereo sampling engine that re-creates the natural dynamics of acoustic instruments by playing back samples of different playing strengths. There's also an expansive collection of voices for you to explore, play with, and tweak. Once you find a setting that you like, Registration Memories come into play. You can save and recall voice settings and styles with just a few button presses.

Ideal for beginners

To ensure that anyone can learn to play keys, Yamaha added a Song Lesson feature to this arranger that enables you to listen to a model performance, improve your timing, and more. You'll be able to learn at your own pace, and thanks to Duo Mode, you can even practice with a friend or teacher! Once you hit the Duo Mode button, the keys will be split into two separate keyboards with the same octave range.

Yamaha PSR-E283 61-key Mid-range Portable Keyboard Features:

  • 61-key portable keyboard is ideal for beginners
  • Realistic instrument voices put plenty of options at your fingertips
  • Song Lesson feature allows you to listen to a model performance, improve your timing, and more
  • Smart Chord and Style functions generate ideal chords and accompaniment for your music
  • Duo mode splits the keyboard into two halves, each with its own middle C for partner practice
  • Compact, lightweight design makes it incredibly portable

Reviews

My Piano
I bought this piano to learn to play. I play a bass now just want to try the piano as I love the sounds and enjoy listening to them. It has a great sound for such a unit with such a reasonable price. Can't lose on this.
Good for the Price
Wouldn't use this for big stuff, obviously. I have a Yamaha MOX8 and a Nord Grand. I am 77 years old and I am not as thrilled as I once was about hauling these around. This little unit does a decent job. One has to be careful as I have gotten kind of sloppy over the years. I cannot rest my fingers on the keyboard as the are not touch sensitive. If you lightly touch it, it is going to play a note! Something I do notice, also is fingers must hit every note exact. I can get away with some slop on my weighted keys but not on this. The little board wants to make a piano player out of me!!
