Faster and More Accurate Tuning

Graph Tech Ratio Locking Tuners allow you to tune your guitar more quickly and accurately than conventional designs. Each tuner in the set sports a custom gear ratio that makes each machine head react the same — roughly one full turn per whole tone. Because each string reacts the same, not only is tuning a more pleasant experience, but nailing alternate tunings is a much faster process. Graph Tech's mission statement is "to improve your playing experience." And that's exactly what Graph Tech Ratio Locking Tuners deliver.

Graph Tech's Ratio technology

Though it's a simple idea, Graph Tech's Ratio technology completely changes the way you tune your guitar. All six tuners are outfitted with gear ratios that ensure you attain the same response from your wound low E string as you do your unwound high E. No matter what string you are tuning, you'll notice that one full turn of the tuner equates to roughly one whole tone pitch change. The Ratio technology makes nailing your pitch much easier and faster. And you'll love how fast it is to get to Drop D and other alternate tunings.

Easy installation with no drilling

One of the greatest benefits of the Ratio system is that each tuner installs onto your guitar's headstock without any drilling or other destructive procedures and are completely reversible. Graph Tech's InvisoMatch mounting plates ship with the tuners. The machine heads mount directly to those plates and aren't screwed into your instrument. As their name would suggest, the InvisoMatch mounting plates are completely hidden by the Ratio tuners to supply a sleek, low-profile look on any instrument.

Graph Tech: improve your playing experience

Graph Tech has made it their personal mission to supply the products that will make your instrument play better, sound better, and perform better. From the company's popular String Saver saddles to their TUSQ string nuts that can be found on countless manufacturers' guitars, the company's products are a mainstay in the guitar and bass industry. Just about every player at Sweetwater owns something created by Graph Tech, because — like their mission statement demands — they never fail to improve our playing experience.

Reviews

Great Tuners
Replaced a set of Grovers on a Gibson Les Paul Session. Two of the Grovers had a bit of play when adjusting tuning. So I took the opportunity to get these Ratio tuners. I really like the ratio on the troublesome strings: Low E is 39:1, G is 35:1 this helps you make micro-adjustments and ease into the target pitch, rather than overshooting your target with typical one-ratio sets. Pleased. I also got a set of Grover Tuner plastic KeyStone Buttons which are compatible with Graph Tech Ratio Tuners.
Nice!
High Quality upgrade to your favorite Guitar. Makes for a better experience changing your strings. Very easy to install too. I did it! Designed to work perfectly on nearly any Guitar. I put them on my Gretsch Semi hollow body. Now all of my Guitars have Locking Tuners. :)
Love These Tuners
I put locking tuners on all my guitars. These are every bit as good as the $ PRS Phase III Locking Tuners I put on my PRS guitar. And they can match every tuner screw configuration that I know of. It appears they have a different ratio for the different strings, and I really like that, because the feel when you tune is the same for the high E as it is for the low E.
Looks great, works as intended.

Seemed like a good idea.
My 2023 Les Paul Studio stays in tune great with the factory Grovers. Yes, I'm in shock too. It stays in tune very well actually. Played another 2019-present Studio and it also stayed in tune well. Maybe they finally got it right with that run? So my desire for installing locking tuners on it were strictly for string changing convenience, side benefit having precision gear ratios. Unfortunately it didn't turn out as expected.

First off I felt the string action had tightened up, probably due to a steeper break angle over the nut since they seemed a little shorter than the originals. Ok, I can live with a little of that just as long as it stays in tune but I was not having any luck. I was using the strings that were on it before, fully stretched already. Wasn't staying in tune very well. I mean it was silly, some going flat some going sharp. I double checked to make sure the proper tuners were installed for the proper strings and they were. Nut lube was already applied, no dice.

So, I removed those strings and put on a fresh set. Lubed again, stretching, letting the neck settle a bit, playing the hell out of it, the works. Still not staying "rock solid" as I've read so many others reporting. And I'm no newbie to locking tuners, I've installed Hipshots before, been playing guitar a long time. So I was getting kinda frustrated. They weren't behaving.

Removed the Ratios, reinstalled the original Grovers, new set of strings, repeated entire process. Action feels normal again, staying in tune great again, which I was relieved to find actually. Perhaps that slightly increased break angle was just enough to cause binding at the nut, even lubricated. Too be honest the angle, while a little sharper, didn't appear extreme. I don't know, I didn't measure it precisely just eyeballing.

Whatever the case these did not work out for my 2023 Les Paul Studio. That said, you might have them installed on yours and they're working perfectly. If so that's great. Mine was being a picky SOB I guess. While I can indeed sell them easily enough I was disappointed for sure. YMMV
