Unerring PMC Accuracy, Session After Session

The PMC 6 active studio monitor tells you the truth about your recordings, delivering unflinching accuracy session after session. Designed for reference-grade nearfield monitoring in small-to-midsized rooms, the PMC 6 is a 2-way design with bespoke drivers — a 150mm woofer and a 27mm soft-dome tweeter — mounted in the company’s acclaimed ATL (Advanced Transmission Line) cabinet. ATL is PMC’s proprietary bass-loading technology that extends LF response while reducing distortion, enhancing phase and frequency linearity, and optimizing SPL capability. Equipped with custom state-of-the-art Class D amplifiers and sophisticated acoustic engineering, the PMC 6 provides a spacious soundfield with stunning depth, clarity, imaging, and punch. Your monitors are the key to great-sounding recordings. Step up to a new level of accuracy with PMC.

New drivers for improved performance

The PMC 6 features a newly designed 150mm bass driver that works in tandem with ATL technology to deliver significantly improved bass response over the previous model and rivaling that of PMC monitors equipped with 8-inch woofers. The tweeter used for the PMC 6 is a customized version of an HF driver manufactured by SB Acoustics, a company renowned for their high-quality drive units. Together, these advanced drivers represent yet a new level of accuracy and transparency for PMC, whose monitors have been critical components of world-class control rooms for decades.

Optimized electronics and adaptive crossover

The PMC 6 is bi-amplified by an ICEPower 2 x 200W amplifier, with power being delivered to the drive units via a unique adaptive crossover that senses whether the speaker system is oriented vertically or horizontally and optimizes accordingly. For setup flexibility, the XLR input is switchable between analog and digital AES. A joint venture with the iconic high-end consumer electronics company Bang & Olufsen, ICEPower was founded in 1999 at a time when Class D amplification, which had been around since the 1950s, had matured and was starting to be deployed in pro audio applications such as active monitor speakers, where high power, light weight, and cool-running operation were desirable. ICEPower’s close association with B&O gave them access to the resources, technical expertise, quality-control processes, and business acumen of a well-established company, and today, the company’s advanced amplification modules are found in world-class products throughout the pro audio, consumer electronics, and automotive industries.

Advanced Transmission Line Technology delivers cleaner, deeper bass

Since their first professional studio main monitor design was embraced by the music, broadcast, and post-production industries in the early 1990s, PMC has become famous for their proprietary Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) technology. A transmission line is a method of loading a low-frequency speaker in a cabinet so that undesirable frequencies radiating from the rear of the driver are absorbed, allowing only the lowest frequencies to pass. These emerge from a front-baffle vent, which effectively acts as an auxiliary LF driver that extends bass response while absorbing undesirable low frequencies that contribute to harmonic distortion, clouding the upper bass and midrange. One of the keys to PMC speakers’ natural, highly detailed sound, ATL technology delivers deeper bass and higher output from smaller cabinets, while providing rich, full sound at any listening level. And because ATL bass extension doesn’t vary with volume levels, the low end is well-defined and always in balance, even when listening quietly.

Mixes that translate

Engineers at Sweetwater know that there’s no substitute for midrange clarity in a monitor. This is the heart of your mix, and it remains relevant regardless of playback system. That’s why you can spend hours struggling to achieve a perfect balance and end up with nothing but frustration, listening fatigue, and a mix that doesn’t “translate.” In addition to improving bass response, PMC’s ATL technology also mitigates troublesome frequencies and eliminates port noise that can mask the midrange in other types of monitor speaker designs. As a result, you’ll find it’s easier to place, for instance, vocals and solo instruments in a mix, allowing you to achieve an ideal balance that translates to the world outside your studio.

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!

Wow wow wow...
The PMC 6's are incredible. I knew to expect an amazing sound, but I am in awe with the depth and clarity. Along with that, the stereo field is impeccable. Surprisingly powerful low end and a mid range that is very forward yet clean. Fantastic job PMC!

Amazing Speakers
Best sounding monitor's I've ever heard. Definitely use this using an ethernet switch and link xcd mode. I have the PMC 6's with 2 PMC 8 subs, definitely a killer combo, 2 subs definitely sounds cleanest with this set up, as after I upgraded from 1 sub to 2, I noticed a huge improvement in the low end quality. Nothing but great things to say about PMC.

Amazing Monitors!
Bought them 4 months ago, couldn't be happier. Mixes/Masters translate excelent, listening music is lovely. Midrange very revealing, and very punchy in the lows for the size really. One of the best monitors i've listened.

IMPRESSED!
First off, my hats off to my Sweetwater salesman extraordinaire, Mark Bruhn!!
I have been mixing on a Mackie d8b and HDR2496 through a set of Mackie HR824 speakers for the last 23 years (all purchased from Sweetwater) and finally decided to upgrade my speakers first. I did some research on PMC speakers where I was interested in the PMC6 powered speakers. My control room is rather small but has a great sweet spot for mixing.
After talking it over with Mark, I purchased the PMC6 monitors!!
WOW!! I love these speakers!! My mixes are sooo much better!! I hear a much tighter bass and clarity along with stereo separation not heard from my previous speakers!
One of the best purchases I've made in a while!!

They raised the bar.
I have a pair of the twotwo 6's which are great monitors. I actually thought about getting a matching set used. But I decided to pull the trigger and get a pair of the PMC 6's instead. I'm really glad I did that.
In a side by side comparison, the twotwo 6s were still highly detailed and for the lack of a better term, they are rocking my control area. But the PMC 6's to my amazement were at a different level and definitely an improvement. Bravo PMC
