Your Perfect Practice Partner — and More

Part practice amp and part Bluetooth speaker, Positive Grid’s Spark 2 improves upon its predecessor with twice the processing power, 25% more output, all-new HD amp models, AI-powered tone, a built-in looper, and more. Realistic cab sim IRs, state-of-the-art effects, and premium angled FRFR speakers reinforce the myriad sonic textures produced by Spark 2’s powerful DSP amp-modeling engine. Spark 2’s groove-laden looper, which includes hyper-realistic drum tracks, will unleash countless fun-filled solo jam sessions. Bluetooth connectivity makes playing along with your favorite tracks effortless, while integrated Wi-Fi enables trouble-free over-the-air firmware updates without a computer. You’ll also appreciate Spark 2’s intuitive top-panel controls, low-latency performance, beefed-up headphone output, stereo line outputs, convenient wireless control, and eight customizable presets. An upgraded Tolex-covered cabinet, dark-weave grille, and double-thick strap round out the Spark 2. Players searching for the ultimate practice partner will find endless inspiration in the Spark 2.

All-new HD amp-modeling engine

Driven by Sonic IQ Computational Audio, Spark 2’s all-new HD amp-modeling engine delivers a well-stocked arsenal of outstanding tones. You’ll benefit from twice the processing power of the original Spark, providing you with cutting-edge tube emulations, specially tailored filter designs, and true-to-life cab sim IRs. Integrated multiband dynamic range compression, virtual bass augmentation, and enhanced stereo imaging bolster your sound further. Furthermore, Spark AI allows you to craft and audition unique tones by answering a series of questions. Finally, Spark 2’s two angled 4-inch FRFR speakers and reflex ports equip you with a generous frequency response, immersive stereo imaging, and room-quaking bass.

Your home for tons of tones

Thanks to all this processing power, Positive Grid’s Spark 2 contains a massive cache of ear-grabbing sounds — 33 amplifiers and 43 effects, to be exact. And it sounds better than ever; all the amps included in the Spark app have been remastered to take advantage of the new HD amp-modeling engine. Plug into this stellar practice amplifier, and you’ll experience a greater EQ range, more expansive dynamics, exceptionally true-to-life gain staging, and more.

Advanced smart groove looper

One of the most frequently requested Spark features here at Sweetwater has been a built-in hardware looper. Spark 2 not only contains an advanced smart groove looper, but it’s also jam-packed with hundreds of authentic-sounding drum tracks. It’s incredibly intuitive; you select a genre, choose a groove, and you’re good to go. Whether you want to craft a solo jam, build a layered performance, or explore exciting new musical possibilities, the Spark 2’s looper is ready and willing to oblige. Want hands-free looper control? Who doesn’t? All you need to do is pair Spark 2 with a Spark Control X footswitch, and start, stop, layer, and undo commands will be placed firmly at your feet.

Generous connectivity abounds

Positive Grid’s Spark 2 is brimming with convenient connectivity. Bluetooth 5.0 empowers you to stream audio, jam along to your favorite track, and more from any Bluetooth-equipped device. A headphone output jack makes private practice sessions a snap; meanwhile, stereo 1/4-inch line outputs enable you to send your sound anywhere. You also get a USB-C port, which enables you to use Spark 2 as a 1-in/2-out audio interface. To top it off, Spark 2 is Wi-Fi enabled, so you can receive over-the-air firmware updates without a computer and connect to a Spark Control X footswitch without an external software application.

Reviews

Almost perfect!!!
This amp can do it all and I love it for what it is. The only down side is the connection and app are a little finicky/laggy but nothing worth pulling your hair over. My son loves the heavy metal tones and its perfect for the house. Love how he can play his favorite tracks in the background via Bluetooth while he plays along with it. Also the Ai option is pretty cool how i can type a song name and it can give me the sound for it. Also the loop which adds drums to the background while playing is great! Now he wants the battery to have less wiring and also wants the wireless plug as well and the Spark Go. Lol My son (7) fell in love with his new guitar even more because of this amp!!
Really fun practice amp
For years I would bring my band rig home after every gig or practice and set it all back up so I could play at home. I'm 60 now and that gets tiring so I reached out to my Sales Engineer Michael Berry to get his take on what some good practice amps were so I could leave my amp at the band room. I threw a couple of suggestions his way and without hesitation he said the Spark 2 is where it's at. I've had some other small practice amps over the years that were ok but the Spark 2 is lightyears ahead of those in sound and features.

The amp sounds great at bedroom/TV volume both clean and dirty. The effects are decent enough and the stereo spread is very nice. It will blow you away the first time you use it, especially in close proximity to the amp. I don't really tone chase so I just have a few presets I created and run with them. The app has been really solid on my Android phone and my iPad with no crashes or bugs found (yet!). The library of backing tracks is pretty extensive and I like that the amp has separate guitar and music volume on it so you don't have to rely on your phone volume. The AI feature is ok. I asked for a couple of core tones based on songs and it kind of got there, but not really, but they were still useable. Like I said I got this for guitar practice not tone chasing. I haven't played with the looper much yet, I'm waiting for my Airstep Spark to arrive to start messing with that. Overall I think this is really good at what it was designed for. A low volume guitar practice tool that has some really fun features in it. I highly recommend taking a look at the Spark 2 if you are looking for a small stay at home amp.
Music background: Been playing in bands for almost 50 years and still at it.
Impressive practice amp
I did a lot of research before buying the Spark 2 and it surpassed my expectations. I'm not very tech savvy and this amp is very easy to use. There's also plenty of help videos available. It sounds great and is very inspiring. I would highly recommend.
Music background: Played in many bands for 30 years. Songwriter and recording artist.
AMAZING!
This thing has unlimited potential! So much fun. I love that Positive Grid has a helpful YouTube channel also. The app is super easy to use too. I'm 52 years old so there's a generational gap in my tech savvy. I bought mine at Sweetwater Music in Fort Wayne, IN and the guys there took time to show me many things even I bought it.
Music background: Beginner
Very impressed!
I'm 61 years old and have been playing guitar for the majority of my life. Old school analog, vacuum tube guy the performances are in the rearview, but I still am very particular and enjoy playing around my house. This particular modeling amplifier was recommended to me buy a guitar instructor who happens to be a friend of mine and also teaches a class at Berkeley College of music in Boston. I was skeptical because of the online instructions and everything else that had to do with the app but come to find out simple to navigate. In my opinion, this amplifier gets five stars for a number of reasons, but to me the most important one is that, it's worth it!
