Next-level Portable Recorder

The Portacapture X6 is the perfect option for field audio recording and podcasting applications. This portable recorder offers 6-track simultaneous recording and innovative features that help it excel in any recording application. It houses two XLR inputs with phantom power support and two built-in XY/AB condenser microphones, allowing easy audio capture in stunning 32-bit/96kHz resolution. Remarkably, the Portacapture X6 is incredibly easy to use, thanks to an amply-sized 2.4-inch touchscreen and user-friendly Launcher interface. The Launcher’s innovative app-style operation lets you select from handy configurations to match the type of recording you want to capture. How you store the audio is up to you! You can use a microSD card up to 512GB or plug the Portacapture X6 directly into your computer and use it as an audio interface for your DAW! Podcasters, ASMR artists, musicians, and sound designers at Sweetwater agree that the Portacapture X6 is the most efficient and easy-to-use audio tool for mobile and studio recording scenarios.

All-new Launcher system

Portacapture X6’s 2.4-inch touchscreen and Launcher system make it easier than ever to configure application-specific settings. Instead of trying to remember your podcast settings, just tap the podcasting icon, and the unit will automatically recall your podcast settings. The Launcher system isn’t just limited to podcasts, either. You’ll find apps for multitrack recording, podcasts, interviews, ASMR, music recording, and field recording. With its accessible app-like operation, the Portacapture X6 drastically reduces setup time so you can focus on what matters: capturing pristine audio.

Versatile I/O interface

Connectivity is the name of the game when it comes to portable recording. Despite its compact size, the TASCAM Portacapture X6 has more than enough I/O options for a wealth of projects. Aside from the two built-in mics, the Portacapture X6 has dual XLR inputs complete with TASCAM-designed HDDA mic pres. Beyond the analog inputs, the Portacapture X6 also functions as a USB audio interface so you can record directly into your DAW. The abundant connectivity allows the Portacapture X6 to record up to 6 tracks simultaneously (4 tracks and 2 stereo mix). Whether you’re recording a ska horn section, on-location audio, or your breakthrough podcast episode, the Portacapture X6 will capture it with ease.

Onboard effects suite for polished recordings

TASCAM knows how important your sound is. That’s why the company’s design team loaded a selection of powerful effect tools directly inside the Portacapture X6. You can take advantage of the compressor and limiter to tighten up the performance and keep peaks under control. The highpass filter helps you avoid low-end rumble that can scrap a take. Other useful controls include an EQ and reverb to iron out your sound and add a slice of ambience. When you’re finished recording, add a splash of reverb, and you’re ready to go!

Reviews

Good upgrade
Upgraded from Zoom H4n pro to this Tascam Portacapture X6.
Very happy with it.
32 bit means less worry about setting the gain.
Remote via iPhone is convenient.
And boot-up time is about 7 seconds, vs about 30 seconds
Sound quality excellent.
Great Sound! Easy to use.
This is the little brother of the Portacapture X8. Out of the box it was easy to use and the 32-bit technology is a welcome relief. The big color touchscreen works as you'd expect with no hiccups. I don't know why this one does not have xlr/ 1/4" combo jacks like the x8 does though. Other than that it's going to be a welcome addition to my gearbag.
Many people complaints a lot... but I think it's pretty rad

Here's a revised version in standard English:

It might be overpriced due to the lack of combo jacks, but this device sounds better and offers more options than Zoom's previous and current models. If you need TRS or TS inputs, you can use a DI box or opt for the X8. If you don't need those features, this will be more than sufficient and exceed your expectations. I was initially concerned about the absence of combo jacks, but honestly, I prefer having better battery life, compact equipment, and a small screen instead of a large one that would drain most of my battery. Given that, this choice is a no-brainer. I bought it at a price lower than retail due to a promotion from Sweetwater, which made me even more comfortable with my purchase. If you can catch those discounts, don't hesitate.

I had to wait a couple of weeks for Tascam to restock, but aside from that, everything was great. If they had included a cable, a simple case, and some windscreens, it would have been totally worth it. I suggest waiting until the price drops by at least $ so you can buy a case and some windscreens for the built-in microphones.

Powerful audio recorder!
I have gone from a DBX 286 twenty five years ago to a Scarlett, Motu 2, Behringer UV1, Zoom F3 to this unit...wow is all I can say. It is very capable, sounds better than any of the above and is quieter to my satisfaction. The menu is great, except it is somewhat smaller than the X8 but a lot less expensive to someone that doesn't need the extra feature so the X8. The menu learning curve is a hill to climb but not necessarily steep. The included manual is a waste and I downloaded the Ref manual from Tascam and it is great, except how to activate the Phantom Power is poor, thus it took me hours to get it to receive my signal as it has a Phantom Power setting, but that doesn't mean the phantom power is activated, just that it is 48v. The activation is hidden and the documentation for that procedure is poor, thus minus one star. I ordered the bluetooth dongle and will be using my Samsung Tab to replace the small screen. Maybe I should have purchased the X8 as it has the removable mics, larger screen and XLR with line in. Another negative is the plastic has small specks in the material which is sort of a distraction looking like dust particles.
Tascam light use.
IT sounds great and works great but for some reason the plug in for head phones always after a while does not function properly or at all.The biggest disappointed how cheap this item is don't drop it once it falls apart .Also when I looked inside we're the mics were it is the cheapest thinnest wire I have ever scene. This is for very light use and never ever drop it once .Only lasted around 1 and a half months before it started falling apart. It is way overpriced.
