Three individual amplifier stages exist within the Player II Modified preamp in an effort to silo the controls and deliver the most consistent tone possible. When combined with the addition of a mid-Q switch — a narrowing of the treble- and mid-bandwidths and changes to the center frequency of each band — you get a much more focused low-end, a punchier midrange, and a clearer high end that reduces muddiness and allows the P Bass to cut straight through the mix.
