Classic Precision Bass from Squier

The Squier Affinity Series Precision Bass PJ puts classic P Bass tone and feel into your hands at an amazing price. Featuring a lightweight, resonant polar body, this bass guitar is friendly on the back for hours of performance. The combination of Precision and Jazz Bass pickups in this stellar bass gives you the vintage, gritty Fender tone that has won over so many players over the decades. And since each pickup has its own volume knob and master tone knob, you can tweak your tone to your preference. The Affinity Series Precision Bass PJ features a maple neck and a 20-fret maple fingerboard for fast, comfortable playing and wide-open stylistic exploration. Vintage-looking tuners compete the setup on this stunning instrument.

Precision Bass and Jazz Bass pickup combo offers versatile tone

Giving you the best of both bass worlds, the Affinity Series Precision Bass PJ arms you with tonal versatility. The split-coil P Bass pickup gives you an aggressive, meaty tone, while the J Bass single-coil pickup delivers a crisp, full-bodied sound for a bass that is balanced, versatile, and classic Fender all the way. Bassists at Sweetwater love having a bass like this in their instrument arsenal — it can suit a range of styles and playing situations.

Neck designed for fast, comfortable playing

Made from solid maple with a maple fingerboard, the neck on Squier's Affinity Series Precision Bass PJ is designed for fast playability and stellar response. The 20 medium jumbo frets provide you with added playing comfort, keeping hand and finger fatigue at bay while producing wonderful tone.

Great Stock or to Mod

This bass came 8n great shape and sounded pretty good stock.

I was able to set it up and the action with stock hardware was great.

However, I purchased this to modify. All Fender and after market parts for American Precision Basses fit without modification. Except for the tuners but I purposely got the old clunky vintage style.

Upgrades are:
* Fender Jazz Style neck for PBass with 1.5" nut and 12" radius.
*Graphtech Tusq XL nut.
*Hipshot tuners with matching Drop D tuner
*Semour Duncan Qtr Pounder PJ set.
*Fender Hi-Mass Bridge
*Fender PBass knobs
*Completely rewired with CTS pots, oil bucket tone capacitor with gavett cloth 22g wire.
*Schaller strap locks
*ZeroMod thumb rest
ALL SCREW HOLES LINED UP PERFECTLY... better than original for pickguard.

Squier Affinity Jazz Bass

I have been playing guitar both acoustic and electric for 14 years. This is my first bass and I am loving it

It's becoming my favorite bass

I'm completely satisfied with this purchase, and even moreso with Sweetwater customer service.
Lei Fonsah and I spoke for a good half hour about my plans for my next bass (I'm a hack/modder.) And honestly, it was because of our conversation that I decided to pull the trigger on this Squier with the maple neck (never had a maple neck before.)
- I am so happy with it, it's actually become my favorite. The size is great, meaning, it's substantial, and feels so solid when playing.

Sweetwater has gained a loyal customer, as long as Lei is my sales engineer.
I'm 100% satisfied with the purchase and service (before AND after)... thank you !

Plays and sounds good

Much better tone control than previous squiers

Good for... Looking cool on your wall

It looks cool if its the only bass on your wall surrounded by guitars, it doesn't play too well and it keeps needing repairs (I don't have time I have 8 other basses) It sounds pretty bad with the strings that are on there and I would personally get a fresh set of some ernie ball slinky strings.

It is a good beginner bass, but with it being 900 lbs and when I started playing it when I was 8, it was the heaviest thing ever and not at all ergonomic (Im used to having upwards of 300 lbs on my back when I'm training for sports and its still does not want to be nice even with a padded strap). Along with weighing a literal ton, the body is way to wide and after 6 years im still struggling to get used to playing with it.

In conclusion, if you are 50 and have $, go with this. If you have a little bit more to spend id sugguest going with the Ibanez SR300eb (And check out my review for the Ibanez SR300eb)
