Fender’s Next-gen American Ultra P Bass

Fender’s American Ultra series established a benchmark as the company’s most advanced instruments for discerning players who demand the ultimate in tone and playability. Now, American Ultra II ups the ante with across-the-board improvements that take performance to a whole new level. The Fender American Ultra II Precision Bass delivers the same iconic vintage vibe as its ancestors — but play a few notes, and you’ll quickly realize that this is a state-of-the-art, high-performance axe. The contoured offset alder body balances beautifully and always feels just right; meanwhile, the fast, slim Modern D neck profile, compound-radius fingerboard, and tapered neck heel turbocharge your playing. Amazing-sounding Fender Ultra II Noiseless Vintage Precision Bass pickups and a powerful preamp with 3-band EQ complete the setup. The Fender American Ultra II Precision Bass is available with ebony or maple fingerboards in a range of dazzling finishes. Grab yours at Sweetwater today!

State-of-the-art performance, vintage-inspired tone

Plug into your amp or interface, and you’ll savor legendary, punchy P Bass tone with zero hum, thanks to a dynamic duo of Ultra II Noiseless Vintage pickups deployed in the tonally versatile P-J configuration. This arrangement gives you the low-end punch from the split-coil Precision pickup in the middle position, along with the aggressive growl from the Jazz Bass single-coil at the bridge. Mix up your signature blend, and you’re ready to roll. Whether it’s rock, funk, blues, country, or fusion, the Fender American Ultra Precision Bass has you covered. Fender’s revolutionary Noiseless circuitry drives long cable runs without the noise and hum that are inherent in vintage single-coil pickup designs.

Sculpt your tone to perfection

You can plug the American Ultra II Precision Bass into anything — from old-school tube combos to digital modeling software — and you’ll experience vintage-inspired tone with the level of performance you expect from cutting-edge modern electronics. The American Ultra II Precision Bass is equipped with an 18-volt active preamp for optimized headroom and punch. The control layout includes a master volume control with Fender’s push-push S-1 switch, a pan pot for pickup selection, a stacked concentric midrange boost/cut plus passive tone control, a stacked concentric treble boost/cut plus bass boost/cut, and a mini-toggle midrange frequency selector. This comprehensive control set gives you the freedom to sculpt a vast array of bass tones suitable for any live gig or recording session.

Classic design with high-performance features

The American Ultra II Precision Bass’s performance-driven features extend to the neck in a big way. While its quarter-sawn maple construction and eye-catching Fender headstock logo seem standard enough, run up the fingerboard and you’ll know there’s a lot more going on. This instrument boasts an easy-playing 10- to 14-inch compound-radius fingerboard with 21 medium-jumbo frets that’s perfect for grooving down low and soloing up high; additionally, rolled fingerboard edges supply endless hours of playing comfort.

A player’s dream come true

The famously fast, slender neck on the American Ultra II Precision Bass sports Fender’s Modern D profile, which, along with its super-slick Ultra Satin finish, enables enhanced maneuverability. One of our favorite elements of the American Ultra II Precision Bass here at Sweetwater is its tapered neck heel. Play it and you’ll understand — this perfectly sculpted heel gives you effortless access to the entire fingerboard, while the 5-bolt neck plate provides an advanced neck joint for optimized tone with prodigious sustain. The American Ultra II Precision Bass is a player’s dream come true.

Fender American Ultra II Precision Bass Features:

  • Solid select alder body features a gloss finish, anchoring tones in resounding balance, powerful presence, and spectrum-spanning audiovisual panache
  • Quarter-sawn maple neck and matching fretboard supply smoldering heat and excellent articulation in every register
  • Fender Ultra II Noiseless P-J pickups supply a versatile range of timeless tones
  • 3-band EQ, pickup-blend knob, dual stacked-concentric boost/cut controls, midrange-selector mini toggle, and push-push S-1 switch mean powerful sonic contouring

  • Satin-finished neck and iconic P Bass double-cut design guarantee unfettered accessibility, speed, and control
  • Use of quarter-sawn maple for the neck results in increased dimensional stability, and greater resilience to twisting or warping
  • Adjustable 4-saddle HiMass bridge supports string-through-body and top-load configurations with equally sonorous aplomb

Reviews

If you're looking for an end all be all. This is your bass.
At one point I thought I had the best fender could give me, a vintage p bass.
Imagine my surprise when a brand new pbass surpassed it.

Excellent finish
Great weight
Big sound, whether that's with pre amp or not.
Noiseless is truly noiseless
Plays like butter out of the box

Best purchase I've made in my lifetime.
Music background: 18 years on the bass
Fender American Ultra Precision Bass
Easy making torque bar adjustments given access now at the headstock. Excellent sustain and no sharp frets or nut. Ryan Murphy is a very knowledgeable salesman. Don't hesitate purchasing this bass.
Its tough to rate perfection
This is easily the best bass I've ever owned. I knew I wanted a Precision for a while for its one-size-fits-all sound. I cant stress how good this guitar sounds. There's something going on with the upper frequencies whenever a string is plucked, it just rings out so well. The sustain is amazing, I love how I can feel each note through the neck. I run this through a 1981 DRV with some reverb/delay and it just sounds gorgeous. The P Pickups have this really meaty growl to them, while the J pickups at the bridge have this really gnarly trebly-ness to them that I really like despite preferring the P pickups 90% of the time. The bass looks incredible as well. I can't get over the shine in the pickguard, or the subtle swirl designs in the fret markers.

The only thing I can possibly fault this guitar for is the knobs. They look nice enough and I like the textured feel but they have this slight wiggle to them that kind of drives me mad ONLY because its the only complaint I have. It's really the only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars.

That being said, if you're like me you probably already know that you want this guitar or a similar precision model. Get it, it is worth every penny.

It’s impossible to imagine a world without Fender guitars, and if you’re like many of the guitarists at Sweetwater, then Fender not only made the first guitar you ever bought " they made the last one too! From building the first mass-produced solidbody electric guitars and basses in the 1950s to creating some of the most influential amplifier designs in history, it’s no wonder why Fender is one of the biggest names in the business. As one of the world’s largest Fender dealers, we have countless guitars, basses, amps, effects pedals, and accessories in stock and ready to ship, whenever you need them. We’re always getting our hands on their latest creations, and there’s nothing we love more than to tell our customers all about them!
