Beautifully Designed Cajon with Piezo Pickup

The Artisan Edition Pickup Cajon from Meinl represents a next-level take on an instrument that has gained a ton of popularity among percussionists for its unique tone and playability. The Artisan features a beautiful 9-ply, 12-millimeter-thick Baltic birch body that delivers full punchy tone that fills a room! An ergonomically rounded frontplate provides a nice, comfortable convex surface for your hands. When you are ready to plug in, a piezo pickup with tone and volume control delivers awesome amplified tone. And a 1/4-inch cable port lets you send your signal through any amp or PA system.

Great snare tones and ergonomic design

The Pickup Cajon also features two groupings of four pre-tuned metal micro-coiled cajon strings that span the inside of the playing surface and produce stellar, crisp snare tone. Additional player-friendly features include rounded corners and thumb notches for optimal playing comfort and great sound with every strike. Soft rubber feet on the bottom of this cajon keep it from slipping during play — a feature we really appreciate here at Sweetwater.

Link up other Meinl instruments

This cajon is equipped with a link input intended for use with other Meinl instruments with pickups. The link signal gets routed through the cajon's controls, enabling extra sound shaping before both signals get sent to a single amplifier. Using the link input, this cajon can eliminate the need for extra amplifiers, decrease a group's stage footprint, and lend a much cleaner visual look to a stage setup. Note: Meinl's link system is not compatible with all instruments or sources. Be sure to call your Sweetwater Sales Engineer for more information and a complete list of compatible devices.

Reviews

Meinl artisan edition cajon
I purchased this recently and it is by far the best sounding cajon I've had the opportunity to play and I have played many. I am a bass player and I play a kit also. I love this drum and it sounds wicked through my bass amp. I also love the pickup that's built in and the thicker ply that this drum has. All and all this is a great drum. And I play it at the bars sometimes and get a good response from the crowd. Great job with the design. I'm impressed. Thx sweeteater.
P.S. the hands on help that you get with sweetwater. Is the reason I shop here when ordering I always call and get the help I need picking out what works best for me and my scenario.
Good pickup... but no bass
I loved the idea of this cajon! The snap of the snare was great - exactly what you'd want from the high end of the cajon. But the bass was pretty non-existent, unfortunately. The pickup is good and does it's job well. The natural sound of the cajon is what we found lacking.
