Schecter’s revered P-style bass is back and now available in a 5-string version with extra low end, advanced hardware, and stunning classic looks with some modern twists. The body leverages a solid alder construction for bold bass and cutting mid growl with excellent sustain. A one-piece maple neck gives the P-5 a timeless look, but its “Thin C” profile with a 16-inch radius allows for super-fast riffs, runs, and multi-octave lines across the neck. Powering this 5-string behemoth is a single Schecter USA MonsterTone-P pickup that delivers responsive, growling tone with exceptional definition even on the low-B string. Sweetwater bass players are really impressed with this instrument’s comfortable weight and feel — it’s one of the most playable 5-strings on the market.

The P-5’s alder body delivers classic P-style tone. Notes are wide and fat with excellent sustain, and this bass responds well to player dynamics. Coax out alder’s warmth with soft plucks or dig in to hear biting midrange growl. Schecter outfitted the P-5 with an attractive one-piece maple neck featuring a “Thin C” neck profile, a style that’s thin enough for fast complex lines but with enough substance to keep your playing grounded. Plus, the P-5 comes with a premium TUSQ Ivory nut, lightweight tuners, and a high-mass Schecter bridge that can be setup to be either top-loading or string-through. Choose string-through for slightly more sustain or change course with a top-loading setup for faster attack and response.
MonsterTone power
A single P-5 pickup delivers massive tone; with Schecter MonsterTone pickups, one is all you need. These pickups are built to late-'70s Schecter specs with original materials purchased from the same vendors as 40 years ago where possible. Carefully designed carbon steel pole pieces, USA-made magnet wire, and Ceramic 8 Magnets combine for a true humbucking design that runs quiet with little to no hum. The output is hot and articulate with thunderous lows and articulate highs that can easily be pushed into breakup turf. The MonsterTone is a true snapshot of how bass pickups should sound and perform.
