Big Bass Tone with Schecter Bling

Rock out in style with the Schecter Omen Extreme-5 electric bass guitar. The classy maple top and gold hardware adorn a mahogany body and maple neck that's topped with a rosewood fretboard. You'll love the pair of Schecter Diamond Bass pickups and the 2-band active EQ; this setup lets you conjure practically any kind of bass tone you want — and plenty of it. Top-grade components keep this bass in stable tune, for worry-free performance. Keep the low end string with the Schecter Omen Extreme-5 electric bass guitar!

Custom Schecter hardware lets this 5-string axe perform like a champ

One of the great things in general about Schecter's more affordable basses is the hardware. Unable to source an affordable 5-string bridge that still delivers the performance and stability serious guitarists demand, Schecter simply decided to create one. This Schecter Diamond Bass bridge gives you the stability you need plus a massive range of intonation. Also a nice surprise, the sealed and permanently lubricated tuning machines on the Schecter Omen Extreme-5 let you stay in tune like a pro.

Killer tonewood combo balances rich sound with serious sustain

As with any bass guitar, the choice of tonewoods Schecter used has a huge impact on both the sound and feel of the Omen Extreme-5. To keep this not-insubstantial instrument light enough to play for hours yet resonant enough for metal, Schecter selected mahogany and maple for the body and maple for the neck. This combination gives the Omen Extreme-5 plenty of bite, without limiting the low-end impact you can expect from this bass. Add to that a naturally conditioned rosewood fingerboard, and you've got killer sound and feel. Take it from Sweetwater bassists: the Omen Extreme-5 will give you years of great performance.

Powerful 2-band EQ lets you dial in the perfect tone

When you need a specific tone for a session, there's nothing like an active EQ. The Schecter Omen Extreme-5 bass sports a powerful 2-band EQ that gives you a fat low end and snappy highs. From funk to jazz to nu-metal, the Omen Extreme-5's EQ has the tone-sculpting power you need in a bass.

Schecter Omen Extreme-5 Electric Bass Guitar Features:

  • Comfortable contoured mahogany body with maple top
  • Maple neck and rosewood fretboard are optimized for fast bass playing
  • Schecter humbucking pickups deliver deep bass tones
  • 2-band active EQ lets you dial in your perfect tone
  • Schecter bass tuners provide precise tuning

Reviews

Everything I expected
After waiting weeks for one to become available (and ordering something else in the meantime... but that's another review) I finally received this bass. After careful unpacking and close inspection, I'm happy with its condition. I waited a few weeks to post this so I could be home more comfortable with it and make some minor tweaks to the setup. Nice binding on body and neck, no sharp fret edges. Nicely finished. The neck was very straight and perfectly flat. I prefer a touch of relief and over the first couple of weeks of ownership was able to dial it in with the truss rod. The preamp's overall level seems a bit weak compared to my other active basses, but it sounds great and I can always boost the bass and treble if I want more output. String spacing for me is great, ymmv. It's narrow, probably too narrow for a lot of players. My old, arthritic hands like it slot. It's not too heavy at less than eight and a half pounds and hangs nicely without much neck dive. I'm not sure if it's the 35"scale, the mahogany body, or what, but this thing has sustain for days. Very resonant with no dead spots that I've noticed. The B string is articulate and full. Looks, plays, and sounds great.
Music background: bass hack for 50+ years
Great active pickup bass
Finish - excellent
Playability - excellent
Action - seems pretty low but only took a bit of adjustment. Zero complaints there.
Staying in tune - in a temp and humidity controlled room I've only tuned twice in a week.
Tone - great - requires a little time to dial in what you need.
Battery life - left it plugged in to amp by accident overnight and it was still good; 18+ hours.
Strings - I prefer D'Addario XL Chrome ECB81-5 flat wounds over the included Ernie Ball strings. Once changed it was very smooth.
Controls - the only problem here is there are no documents that are included in my box. Had to watch a video to explain the controls. While it wasn't difficult to figure out, it would be nice to have that included or on Schechter's web site.

Great value and plays way better than the Ibanez, Yamaha, or Fender equivalents; even better than a Fender Player Jazz that was a few hundred more.
