A No-frills Gateway to Classic Marshall Tone

Packed with a generous complement of tubes, the Origin ORI50C exhibits vintage-inspired Marshall tone. This amp is powerful in its simplicity. Dial in the Gain and Master controls to get the right amount of crunch, then shape your tone with the Presence knob and the 3-band EQ. A unique Tilt control blends bright and normal sounds, while switchable power enables high-output sounds at any volume. A built-in FX loop makes integrating your pedalboard a breeze. There's even a footswitchable gain boost for adding extra punch to your solos. The Origin ORI50C is a no-frills gateway to classic Marshall tone.

From the music store to stages everywhere

Jim Marshall didn't start out building great amps. In fact, his entry into the amp world came about in part because the drummers that visited his music shop for equipment and lessons often brought along their guitar players. Conversations about their amplification needs led to the birth of a line of amps that would eventually change the sound of music. From those first humble creations to Pete Townshend's first monster full stacks; from the mid-'60s combos to Hendrix to backlines of multiple Marshall rigs, there's a reason why so many guitarists (including quite a few here at Sweetwater) swear by Marshall amps. Try one out and see for yourself!

Reviews

It does the Marshall thing
It's exactly what I hoped it would be. It does that Marshall mid pushed sound, but on a budget. I don't particularly care where something is made, as long as it's made well, and this one is. I've gigged with it several times, for several hours at a clip with it pushed quite hard. It performs admirably and once you crack it open it's quite happy to go there. The Midnight speaker is fantastic and I love that I can add another cab if necessary, but it is already quite loud to begin with. It will definitely keep up with my buddies Hot Rod Deluxe, that's for sure. I wish the DI out had a separate volume control for the dummy load, but that's a very minor inconvenience.

Tube amp.
my first tube amp was a 1968 Ampeg Gemini 6.Ive been searching years trying to duplicate the clean sound produced by that amp. This Origin 50 has ended my search. Looking for that 60s - 70s clean rock and roll sound, this it the amp you want. Thanks
Music background: Not a pro but been playing guitar for over 50 years.
Origin 50
I love this amp. The cleans sound beautiful, making for a great pedal platform. Still, when gain is dimed it is all Marshall. The tilt function is kinda cool, more tonal options. The amp is very loud, and the speaker sounds great.

You Won’t Be Disappointed
I could not be happier with the sounds coming from this amp.
Music background: Chords: E major, D major
Loud is More Good. (thanks Josh)
If you've sat envious of the Mark II head sitting in that hole in the wall guitar store for 2000 dollars, If you sit back and try and think about how good clapton's, page's, jimi's, angus' amps all sounded, and what you might be able to do with that, Get off your Butt. You 100% probably don't need the 50C but 2.5x the headroom and bar destroying raw volume for ~150 bucks more is hard to turn down. If you somehow find yourself in a no kidding music hall, This will STILL get the job done. Anything north of 3-4 on 5W (low) and you'd better make sure it's the right time of day, your neighbors are cool, ect.

The gain boost + setting to 11 sets you immediately into the AC/DC, Motorhead territory of just wide open angry amp and if you've never, I highly recommend it. It cleans up on your picking, let alone volume knob, so don't be scared of the gain knob.

it also eats and utilizes pedals for breakfast. And as a righteous old marshall, you can get w/e you think with the right pedal. A metal zone into the FX loop? welcome to modern high gain devastation land. big tremelo and a booster pedal? it will wash your eyes out with angry tone.

Bottom line: I actually doubt you will find more amp than this from orange, fender, or vox.
Their mid-tier offerings I don't think really do justice to their golden age amps that they WANT you to think they're selling. For the longest time Marshall was kind of guilty of this as well. (I'm looking at YOU, fizzy weird old DSL40C)
Music background: taught by ear, nothing professional

There are countless "British"-style guitar amplifiers out there, but take it from the lifelong guitarists and tone connoisseurs at Sweetwater, when it comes to Marshall tone, there's nothing like the real thing. We've played them all, from vintage JTM45s and the ultra-cool Plexi reissue to modern handmade masterpieces such as the JVM410. There isn't a model among them we can't recommend with total confidence, and that includes their more affordable models too, like MG, DSL, and Code series amps. Thanks to our tight relationship with Marshall, Sweetwater's always on the cutting edge of their latest designs, custom models, and limited-edition gems. If you want iconic tone from across the pond, you want Marshall, and your Sweetwater Sales Engineer will help you find the perfect one.
