A No-frills Gateway to Classic Marshall Tone

Packed with a generous complement of tubes, the Origin ORI20C exhibits vintage-inspired Marshall tone. This amp is powerful in its simplicity. Dial in the Gain and Master controls to get the right amount of crunch, then shape your tone with the Presence knob and the 3-band EQ. A unique Tilt control blends bright and normal sounds, while switchable power enables high-output sounds at any volume. The Origin ORI20C is a no-frills gateway to classic Marshall tone.

From the music store to stages everywhere

Jim Marshall didn’t start out building great amps. In fact, his entry into the amp world came about in part because the drummers that visited his music shop for equipment and lessons often brought along their guitar players. Conversations about their amplification needs led to the birth of a line of amps that would eventually change the sound of music. From those first humble creations to Pete Townshend’s first monster full stacks; from the mid-’60s combos to Hendrix to backlines of multiple Marshall rigs, there’s a reason why so many guitarists (including quite a few here at Sweetwater) swear by Marshall amps. Try one out and see for yourself!

Code 20 Combo

I researched amp before purchase and it lives up to the glowing reviews. Only thing I would change is the effects loop. It's foot switchable and could be an issue without the foot pedal.

Marshall amp, great sound

I've never owned a Marshall amp before but I thought I'd give this a try. Very clean sounding, no buzz hum or noise other than my guitar. The 'crunch' organic doesn't produce as much as I'd like, but I'm still very happy with the overall clean sound. Thinking of buying another one for stereo use WTH my guitar. I'd buy this without reservation.

Cream Combo has the Tone

Had a Marshall 20 watt head maybe a year ago and sold it for a 5 watt model. Both did not sound good. Maybe it was my speaker? Fast forward to today. Thought I would try the new Cream Tolex Combo. Glad I did. The Amp has ample head room as well as dynamic depth. It also is not raspy. Great amplifier.

Great amp, wonderful platform on which to build

I wanted a tube amp with some built in attenuation since I use it exclusively in my home. Even on the low setting, it can be tough to get it to bark with the volume low. I will probably add a master volume like the JHS black box to the effects loop so I can push the tubes harder. Speaking of the effects loop, this amp handles pedals very well that way. I think the amp's best attribute is that the unmodified sound seems very real. Making it a good platform for adding one's own signature sound to.

It's a vast improvement!

Bought a Origin 20 combo from a local store it sounded OK but lacks bass. Had Nace Amp with a 12" greenback in it so I hooked it up to the Origin boy what a difference. So I was pretty confident a 10" Greenback would sound better so I ordered one from Sweetwater and Brandon Younglao was the salesman had it here in like 3 days. Now the Amp sounds way better it has bass response now and less ice pick highs. This Amp really should come with a Greenback otherwise it's just a Treble'y mess.

There are countless "British"-style guitar amplifiers out there, but take it from the lifelong guitarists and tone connoisseurs at Sweetwater, when it comes to Marshall tone, there's nothing like the real thing. We've played them all, from vintage JTM45s and the ultra-cool Plexi reissue to modern handmade masterpieces such as the JVM410. There isn't a model among them we can't recommend with total confidence, and that includes their more affordable models too, like MG, DSL, and Code series amps. Thanks to our tight relationship with Marshall, Sweetwater's always on the cutting edge of their latest designs, custom models, and limited-edition gems. If you want iconic tone from across the pond, you want Marshall, and your Sweetwater Sales Engineer will help you find the perfect one.
