Try D’Addario’s Toughest Strings

D’Addario NYXL Nickel Wound Guitar Strings represent one of the most exciting developments in string technology in recent years. Tough as nails, these strings feature an exclusive high-carbon steel core wire and a reformulated nickel plating on the wrap wire. Of course, NYXL strings are still made with the dedication to quality and craftsmanship that players have come to expect from D’Addario. But what does all of that do for you, the player? First, the strings are more flexible, making them a much better alternative for players who abuse the whammy bar. They’re also more stable — case in point, D'Addario reports these strings flaunt a 131% greater tuning stability. Suffice it to say: with these strings on your guitar, you’re free to play without worrying that a broken string will derail your session.

The NYXL Difference

So, what really makes NYXLs so much different than standard D’Addario strings? First, they’re built with an exclusive high-carbon steel core wire for greater durability and a higher tolerance for alternate tunings. The other difference found on NYXL strings is the reformulated nickel-plated wrap wire, which delivers a subtle boost in output between 1kHz and 3.5kHz. With NYXL strings, you get a modernized sound and ferocious durability without sacrificing the easy playability you know and love.

Which string gauge is right for me?

  • Extra Super Light: Super easy to play. Easy to bend. Great for beginners.
  • Super Light: Easy on the fingers. Slightly more volume and projection.
  • Regular Light: Most popular. Ideal balance of playability and versatile tone.
  • Medium: A popular fusion of heftier plain steels and wound strings.
  • Heavy: Hardest to bend. Maximum volume. Often used for drop/altered tunings.

The right tone for everyone

D’Addario believes that every acoustic guitar player should have a set of strings that match their sonic needs. That’s why they build strings with a range of construction methods and materials. Whether you go with the brightest 80/20 Bronze strings, the mellowest Silk & Steels, or anywhere in between, D’Addario has the perfect sound for everyone. Want to learn more? D’Addario: innovative strings since 1680

When you go with D’Addario, you receive far more than a great set of strings. You’re benefiting from three centuries of string-making experience. The D’Addario family tradition began in 1680 in the tiny town of Salle, Italy, where they made assorted instrument strings for over 200 years before relocating to New York in 1905. Since then, the D’Addario family has become a leader in string innovation. They designed the modern winding machine, introduced ultra-reliable hexagonal core wires, and pioneered the colored-coded ball end movement. More than 300 years since the family started making strings, D’Addario continues to set a global standard for quality and reliability. And every day, more than 500,000 strings emerge from their USA-based workshops.

D’Addario NYXL Nickel Wound Electric Guitar Strings Features:

  • Advanced nickel-wound guitar strings with outstanding durability
  • Exclusive New York-made high-carbon steel core delivers unrivaled strength and elasticity
  • Wound strings flaunt an improved frequency response in the 1-3.5kHz range
  • Hexagonal steel core wire provides extra stability, greater reliability, and improved intonation
  • Improved tuning stability means you spend less time tuning and more time playing
  • Corrosion-resistant packaging keeps strings fresh in storage
  • Color-coded ball ends make it easy to change and replace strings

Amazing!!
I switched to these a while back and they are all I play now!

My Search Is Over
Iv tried many different type of strings, there is something special about these, they stay intonated and in tune very well. With distortion the sound is clear and punchy. Wont be disappointed. One thing to point out though if you are used to thicker gauge of strings get the 52-10 then the thinner versions.

Amazing Strings
I bought my first set of these strings around 1 1/2 years ago. Immediately I loved the feel and the sound of them. I came from playing D'Addario XL 10-52s and these felt very similar. However, once I strung the guitar and stretched out the strings once, they would stay in tune for a long time. I probably tune once per week and it is always very close. My first set I kept on my guitar for one year with playing that guitar every single day for at least an hour. I only did this because I was tight on money, and won't do it again, but it was nice to know that they would actually last that long without breaking. As long as you wipe them down they are fairly corrosive resistance. The second set of strings that I put on I used for about 6 months before I replaced them, and they were still playable but fairly corroded. I will continue to buy these strings because I think they sound better than the XT's. Also, for those who don't know having a heavy bottom means that you can hit the top strings harder (great for metal and people who naturally pick hard) but you can still bend the top strings well.

My Favorite Strings!
I've tried a few different brands of strings in my time, but these are definitely the best I've played so far. I was a longtime user of Cleartones, and those are still great strings, but these just feel a little better under my fingers, softer in a way. It feels like they bend a little easier, but the low strings don't feel looser, so it's like a perfect win. I also haven't broken a single string yet, so the longevity is certainly there. I would totally recommend these to anyone.

Very Surprised
A buddy of mine gave me a set of these to try after he purchased the wrong gauge by accident. I have been using Elixr Polyweb 10-46 for the last 15 years. I didn't think I would ever find anything that sounded better. Well, I just did. These strings sound louder, punchier and definitely have more clarity. Every aspect of my playing seems to have more definition, especially when playing with a relatively high level of gain. I'm not usually someone who likes to change things up, but I am going to experiment with these strings for awhile and see how they hold up against corrosion. I may have found my new go to strings.
