Inspired Build, Pacific Coast Vibes

Comfortable, accommodating, and precisely voiced, Fender’s full-scale California Standard Monterey E is a versatile acoustic-electric guitar crafted from quality tonewoods with a touch of California flair. From its C-shaped neck profile and onboard tuner to its okoume neck, walnut fingerboard, and pairing of a sapele body with a spruce top, this magnificent Monterey E was designed to provide an inspiring playing experience for guitarists of all skill levels and be an integral part of your standard rotation. Guitarists at Sweetwater laud the thoughtfulness of the Monterey E’s design, which blends vintage-style aesthetics with modern appointments to keep you sounding your best, night after night, whether jamming on the couch, playing to the surf, or taking the stage at Hotel Cafe.

Engineered for endurance

With its midsize orchestra body shape, the California Standard Monterey E was designed with flexibility at its core. To that end, the harmonic use of spruce, sapele, okoume, and walnut exemplifies the expertise of Fender’s luthiers. As a tonewood, sapele shares much with mahogany; it’s balanced throughout the spectrum, rich in harmonics, and retains plenty of projection. Unlike mahogany, however, sapele has an extra bit of articulation and shimmer in its treble frequencies, making it an equally viable choice for fingerstyle playing and flatpicking. When paired with a lightweight spruce top, the Monterey E’s sound is radiant and uncompromising. A strong okoume neck capped with a walnut fingerboard further enhances this guitar's playability and supplements the spruce and sapele’s sonics with an additional shimmer, bell-like resonance, and deep overtones. The end result is a tonewood quartet that makes for resilient, organic tones that are flexible yet powerful.

Vintage stylings with modern appointments

Fender’s luthiers opted for a standard 25.5-inch scale that makes the California Standard Monterey E’s 20 frets and 12-inch radius plenty accessible, delivering an authentic, fully encompassing playing experience. At the same time, its C-shaped neck maintains comfort for players of most styles. Inside, Fender’s active preamp system faithfully translates your tones to the masses, preserving the indelible mix of walnut, okoume, spruce, and sapele sonics, with Tone and Volume controls to refine your sound. An onboard electronic tuner is accompanied by die-cast sealed tuning machines, a micarta nut, and a walnut bridge, keeping your tones reliably in tune.

Fender California Standard Monterey E Features:

  • Laminate spruce top and sapele back and sides mean well-rounded sonics and a balance of volume, lightness, and articulation
  • C-shaped okoume neck accommodates most playing styles with plenty of comfort
  • 20-fret walnut fingerboard imparts a rich shimmer and bell-like resonance to your tone
  • Midsize orchestra body blends versatility, comfort, and projection to meet most artistic needs
  • 12-in. fingerboard radius and standard 25.5-in. scale allow increased tonal access without compromising range
  • Micarta nut and walnut bridge guarantee buzz-free tones that are reliably in tune
  • Fender’s active preamp system faithfully captures your tone for uninhibited live performance
  • Comprehensive electronics suite includes a tuner and Tone and Volume controls to refine and tailor your sound at a moment’s notice
