The Milkman is the result of a tonal collaboration between JHS's Josh Scott and Milkman Sound's Tim Marcus. The duo set out to create a two-in-one slap-back delay and boost pedal that is compact enough to fit onto any player's pedalboard. The delay side of this unit features shorter repeat times aimed at slapback tones. Controls for Slap, Mix, Repeat, and EQ dial in the delay to taste. And the onboard boost function is independently footswitchable and 100% variable. The Milkman effects pedal sounds great whether always on or kicked in for those classic rockabilly tones.

JHS pedals are handcrafted tone machines

When you plug your guitar into a JHS pedal like the Milkman echo/slap and boost pedal, you're tapping into care and passion that few manufacturers put into their products. Each JHS pedal is handbuilt and tested by the JHS team in Kansas City, Missouri. Reviews

Excellent Toy/tool!
I recently went from a modeling amp to a Peavey Classic 30 Tube Amp. LOVE the tube sound but miss a few of the effects from the old girl.

One place we play asks for some old rock-a-billy, and the JHS Milkman Echo/Slap/Delay pedal gives me what I needed. A great toy/tool!

Fantastic pedal!
JHS struck gold with this one. If you need a pedal to subtly craft short/slap delay tones, this is the one for you. They could have stopped there but, they built in a transparent boost as well. This eliminates the need for a separate boost pedal in the effects loop. I set the delay very short - just enough to add a little bit of dimension and presence. Usually always on unless I am using the longer delay from my Keeley Caverns. The boost (which operates independently from the delay) is truly transparent and is a perfect supplement to the pedal. Both of my guitars have tapped humbuckers and have slightly less output level in single coil mode. I have the boost set for the level that will match the single coil output level to that of the humbuckers. Perfect! My amp has boost control as well, so that can be employed for leads. Great job JHS!
P.S. Some have mentioned an issue with using 90 degree barrel connectors from the power supply. I have not found that to be an issue - see photo.

JHS MILKMAN
I just received the JHS Milkman about an hour ago. I'm sure it'll crush once i plug it in.
I want use this opportunity to give a huge shout out to my brother AJ Becerra and the great team at Sweetwater!! AJ has been a huge, positive part of our nearly 8 year relationship with Sweetwater. AJ always keeps us in the loop when we make a purchase and he reaches out to us a few times a year to see how we're doing and to let us know if we need any info on a specific item, he'd be happy to help.
Mahalo AJ and Sweetwater!!
Great Pedal
This is a great pedal for a real rockabilly sound. Easy to dial in just the right amount of slap back. Perfect addition to any pedal board. Very happy with the pedal, price and quick delivery. Sweetwater rocks.
Music background: Been playing guitar for 60 years.
My ONE most-used pedal
JHS makes some superb pedals, and the Milkman is an often overlooked gem from their line. If I had to choose only one pedal for my rig, this would be it. It gets me the precise tones I need.

The slap-back delay has a perfect range of delay times to act as a quick echo of your signal. You will not be able to create Pink Floyd-style atmospherics, but it makes it very easy to get those early Sun Records tones. Each control is very useful. "Slap" sets the delay time. "Mix" controls the volume of the repeats. "Repeat" controls their duration. "EQ" is one I have not seen on many slap-back pedals. It allows you to make the repeats very dark and muddy or very bright and raspy, and every spot on the dial is useful.

The boost is NOT an always on setting for me. Unity volume is at about 10:00 on the dial. Anything lower than that, and the boost acts as an attenuator, or a reverse boost. Go to about noon or 1:00 for a clean boost. Crank it higher to send your guitar soaring above the band. I like to set a small amplifier to the edge of breakup and use the boost to get the tubes overdriving. I also like to dime that same small amp and use the boost as an attenuator. They are similar ways to get the effect I want, but with different tones depending on where the tube saturation kicks in.

I get Intermittent Analysis Paralysis (IAP) from my pedalboard. Do I need a dozen pedals, each with multiple functions? It's overkill for the classic rock and country I play. Most of my amplifiers already have built in spring reverb and tremolo. On days when I don't want to hump my whole board, the Milkman acts as a lone pedal, letting me boost my signal and thicken it with slap-back.
