60 Watts of Dark, Powerful Focus

Dark but clear and enticing, the Midnight 60 is an exciting new 12-inch speaker from Celestion. The Midnight 60 offers 60 watts of power and was developed using the same processes that built Celestion’s acclaimed Creamback and V-type speakers. Played clean, expect balanced resonance with slight top-end highlights that let the treble sparkle. Overdriven, the Midnight 60 pumps out searing rock tones with steady, warm low-end and midrange character that keeps things articulate. When Sweetwater guitarists want guitar speakers that are built like tanks but with care, they turn to Celestion. With a pressed steel frame, a boisterous ceramic magnet guitar speaker, and a wide frequency response of 75Hz to 5kHz, the Midnight 60 is no exception — order yours today!

Note: Speakers are non-returnable. Contact your Sweetwater Sales Engineer if you have any questions.

Sounded better than expected for lower cost speaker

My main rig is a Marshall JCM800KK powering a 4x12 cabinet filled with Celestion GK12-85's (pretty much identical speakers to the K100"s). Obviously it is incredibly loud. It does not even sound remotely good until the volume is at about at 2 1/2 which I still need heating protection in a two car garage if standing right in front of it. So, I have a very cheap Chinese made accoustic brand practice amp that I play with 95% of the time. It's the GFX 35. The clean channel is almost usable but the distortion channel sounds just awful. Garbage. Just as an experiment I decided to try replacing the speaker. I didn't want to spend much money and I wanted to keep the little amp light weight. After looking around i bought the Celestion Midnight 60. I put it in my cheap garbage practice amp and also made a way to plug in an external amplifier like the JCM800 to just use it as a cabinet. WOW! I used the JCM to break in in with a couple hours of heavy loud thrashing and not only did it take the abuse but it sounded damned good! With a little tweaking of the bass mods and treble I was able to nearly replicate the sound character of my 4x12 (although obviously still not 4x12 sound). I was truly impressed. Don't let the small magnet fool you. This thing took some good power from a big amp and held together crystal clear. Plenty of punchy bass. Hard hitting mids and clear high frequencies. This speaker has more mids so I had to dial that back from 6 to 4 and the bass from 6 to 7 to get back to what I was use too. I didn't really notice the drop of sensitivity from 99 to 96. I still had plenty of volume. Removing the JCM800 and using the accoustic brand amp showed how terrible the stock speaker was. It is so much better. Much clearer. Much more definition. Much more of everything I wanted. Granted it still sounded like a cheap amp but it was way way better than before. It's actually usable now. Then if I want real sound I can hook up a good external head unit and have no problem playing in public. I like this Midnight 60. If you want to try something a little different than the usual Vintage 30 or Creamback and don't want to spend a lot this might be worth a look. By the way. Thanks to a sweet water. Been using them for years. Top notch service!

Lovin it!

I swapped out a Vintage 30 for the Midnight 60 in my 1964 non-reverb Deluxe, today, and was most pleasantly surprised! It has a tight, but pronounced low end, subdued midrange (unusual for a Celestion), and some chimey high end that was completely unexpected. The V30 sounded great, but this speaker really brings out the character of the vintage Fender amps inn a way that the original Jensen's didn't. Since I was borrowing the V30, I bought this hoping that it would work well, and it surpassed all of my expectations. Granted, I don't play the "normal" gear that most do, now, but for my taste in P90 SG's and vintage Fender amps, this is a great speaker!

Perfect match.

This pair of Celestion Midnight 12-inch 60-watt (8ohm) are the perfect match for my 1987 Marshall 100w Mos-Fet amp.
These speakers put new life into an amp that was dying for tone and articulation.
Thank you all at Sweetwater.
