Down-to-earth Small Monitor with Out-of-this-world Features

The Galaxy Audio Powered Micro Spot PA is a member of the Galaxy Hot Spot family, known for being small, portable, and fully featured PA speakers and monitors. Featuring a 5" ceramic driver, the Powered Micro Spot PA has three rear-panel inputs: XLR, 1/4", and an 1/8" stereo summing input. It also features an up-front 2-band EQ for on-the-spot mixing. With 48-volt phantom power to drive condenser mics, a 20dB pad with on/off switch, and a built-in compressor with front-panel indicator light, you can safely feed the Micro Spot audio from your mobile device, instrument, or microphone. Sweetwater's buskers love that the Micro Spot PA puts out 100 watts of PA power, meeting a variety of music playback, performance, and public speaking needs.

Great little self powered monitor

The Galaxy MSPA5 works perfectly for our church praise band. We are an out of the box, set up and take down every Sunday Church and having these small but powerful monitors makes the task simple. The levels required to allow personal monitoring is "sweet-water" setups and they don't interfere with the singers microphone.

Galaxy Micro Spot 100W Does the job in INDY

Bought my unit a few weeks ago from Sweetwater. Works really great. As expected bass response not impressive but it is great for Mid range frequencies Keyboards and vocals. Really cuts thru the stage volume. I mix my keys and my vocal thru it.
Tilt feature back works great too. Overdrive and signal light easy to see from 4 feet away. Having three different kinds of inputs is brilliant.

A lot to like, just not the sound

There is a lot to like about the Galaxy Micro Spot and it satisfies a very specific need - a versatile, small, self powered monitor speaker.

It is small, has a variety of input options, has good mounting hardware, and can get very loud.

For non crucial listening needs (booth monitors, non critical stage monitors, editing or control room confidence monitors) it is more than adequate.

That said, the internal amplifier is audibly noisy at minimal volume, and significantly more when the volume is raised above half. The noise is a hiss, and in quiet environments may be a problem or annoying to fussy listeners.

I would not choose this device for museum installations where an absolutely quiet speaker is required.

The sound quality is exactly what I expected based on that of similar Galaxy Audio products: adequate, but nothing more.

Let me be clear, for the price, and its small footprint, this is a very good value. Just be aware that sound quality is not its strong suit.
