Stomp On a Dynamic Quack Attack

When it comes to Mu-voiced auto-wahs, Sweetwater guarantees that you’ll love the tone of the Behringer Meatball. A stellar re-creation of the ’90s-era envelope filter pedal famously wielded by Kirk Hammett, The Edge, Kevin Shields, J Mascis, Dan Auerbach, and scores of other high-profile artists, the Meatball responds dynamically to your playing, serving up expressive quack-like sounds that you can trigger and mold with your pick attack. Additionally, you get a generous range of tone-shaping controls, including Sensitivity and Resonance knobs, enabling you to fine-tune the stompbox’s response, filter characteristics, and more. Moreover, the Meatball features a Blend knob that mixes your dry and filtered signals to taste. Most often adopted by guitarists but equally suited to bass, keyboards, and other electric instruments, the Meatball includes Expression pedal inputs for real-time control over the filter sweep. You also get true bypass switching to maintain your signal integrity when the pedal is disengaged. Brandishing a rugged, road-ready enclosure, the Behringer Meatball is built to take a beating while you keep the funk flowing.

Master the art of the funky filter

Thanks to the Behringer Meatball’s flexible control layout, you’ll be able to unlock limitless sonic possibilities right from the first stomp. Start by dialing in Sensitivity, Attack, and Decay to perfectly match your playing dynamics. Then sculpt the filter’s sonic personality with Resonance and Colour, moving from smooth, vowel-like sweeps to bold, expressive peaks. Use the Blend knob to mix in just the right amount of dry signal for clarity, while the Filter and Bandwidth switches let you dictate exactly how — and where — your tone travels across the frequency spectrum. Seriously — with this level of control at your feet, the only limit is your imagination!

Reviews

Quirky envelope filter
One of the greatest envelope filters in my opinion but has its quirks and flaws, for one this pedal is harder to trigger than most other pedals in its category, so hitting it with some drive or fuzz is almost essential for using this pedal. Along with this the controls also have a massive amount of range and flexibility, and while it is cool to just sit down and find settings that sound cool, just the smallest change in one of the controls can result in huge changes in the pedals sound. Its definitely not for everybody and is far from beginner friendly but is still worth your time.
Great Pedal - Learning Curve
The versatility of this pedal is enormous. It is very sensitive to pickups and signal strength. Learning how to use the attack and sensitivity - along with colour, decay, intensity - not to mention the waveform, filter, and range settings makes it an abundantly versatile tool. It definitely takes some time to get orientated and likes hot pickups, but the range of uses is huge.
Getting the best performance from a Meatball /Owner of an original back when
hit the input with a good strong clean boost then use your guitars volume to fine tune response, this good strong signal will hold the triggers open and give you the best range out of the controls. It will absolutely come alive. Your volume knob is your best friend and can be used very creatively to open and close triggers. The bottom end available is nuts. Thrilled to see this coming back. The circuit card quality on the originals was nothing to write home about, Cant believe the price on this WOW!
