Bettermaker Made It Better!
True to their name, Bettermaker has made their excellent Mastering Limiter even better. Like its predecessor, the Mastering Limiter 2.0 leverages a 100% pure analog signal path with digital plug-in control, but with loads of new bells and whistles. These amenities include a new optimized limiter engine that lets you limit the gain reduction amount, a limiter sidechain with a highpass filter and high frequency emphasis, a +8dB boost at either 2kHz or 7kHz, and an improved Clipper section with either High or Low Soft Clip plus Soft Clip Trim. But we’re not done yet! The 2.0 also retains faster release times, a lowered noise floor and total harmonic distortion (THD), an Input/Output Link for precise dialing of the limiting amount, a flat frequency response, and a new color section with M/S matrix plus even and odd harmonics. When you add cosmetic changes to the hardware, GUI, high contrast screen, and improved metering, you get an incredible limiter that has floored our Sweetwater mastering engineers.
Improvements at every corner
The initial version was already impressive, and Bettermaker improved the 2.0 in every way. It sounds better with a new optimized limiter engine, lowered noise floor and THD, and flatter frequency response. It also has faster release times, and the new Clipper section is wonderful for harder transient material. The 2.0 also ups the ante in terms of visuals, with an improved GUI and DAW plug-in, black matte frame and faceplate, glass bead blasted knobs, high contrast screen, and improved metering that lets you see I/O levels simultaneously. If you want the best of both analog and digital, then this is your limiter.
