The Majesty 8's comfortable design relies on the classic combination of mahogany with a maple cap, elevated by premium okoume wings for a touch of warmth, resonance, and visual flair. The result is the open transparent tone and bold sustain that's helped make John Petrucci a legend among guitarists. To keep fretting comfortable, the Majesty 8 features a mahogany neck with a fast super thin/flat neck profile and a classic ebony fingerboard. Custom-voiced DiMarzio humbuckers voiced to John Petrucci's specs tackle everything from chimey cleans to fearsome high-gain aggression like a champ. The Dreamcatcher low-mid emphasis is great for cutting through a mix without sounding thin, while the Rainmaker leans towards warm highs and open mids with a pure, natural sound and enhanced pick response. There's an additional piezo pickup on the bridge for convincing acoustic tones with the simple turn of a dial. All electronics are supported by Music Man's powerful active preamp with additional features including a push-push +20dB gain boost volume knob, a push-push for coil-split mode on the tone knob, and mono and stereo output jacks. There's very little this exquisite axe can't do — and it does it all without a shred of compromise.
Heavy-duty hardware
The Majesty 8's Schaller M6-IND locking tuners make string changing a cinch. Simply insert the string, tighten the clamp screw, and tune up to pitch. Plus, a chevron cover guards the saddles against accidental bends from hand pressure, something that heavy-handed palm muters will surely appreciate.
