The Easy-to-use Choir Mic!

Capture a choir with stunning detail! Shure's Microflex Overhead is a mini-sized microphone, but it sounds big indeed. Just hang this microphone over the choir by using its 30-foot cable, then perfectly position it using the 4-inch gooseneck and it'll stay right in place. Sweetwater live sound engineers particularly appreciate how the Shure Microflex Overhead even includes an in-line preamplifier so that you won't need a separate power source — you can install the preamp in the ceiling or right on a microphone stand. When everything is said and done, you won't believe how accurate the response is and how great the choir sounds coming through the PA system. Better yet, thanks to the slim design and the discreet colors, hardly anyone will even notice the Microflex Overhead onstage, keeping the focus right on the choir.

Shure MX202B/C Microflex Overhead Features:

  • Microflex series hanging choir microphone
  • Cardioid pickup pattern
  • Discreet black color for a low profile
  • Flexible 4-in. gooseneck with a 30-ft. cable
  • Included in-line preamplifier
  • Supplied stand-mount adapter for portable applications
  • Wide dynamic range and frequency response for accurate sound reproduction

Shure - Excellent
The engineers at Sweetwater were just excellent. Helped guide us to the right set of products. Our production at our small school was just amazing. THANK YOU!!

Superb sound quality
I hate to sound like a Shure fanboy, but they really don't make any bad products. We tend to revere the boutique German import microphones, and rightfully so, but we also have Shure right here cranking out modern classics for decades. Whether it's the sm57 (love it or hate it you need a few) or the SM-81 to the VP88 stereo mic, you could record everything with a Shure mic and it would be fine.

I've used these MX202 microphones in live theatre for almost 15 years now. Sometimes hanging from a pipe but mostly hidden on the set somewhere. They work great, sound crisp and pick dialogue up well. I like the gooseneck functionality for helping to hide the mic on a staircase banister or in a potted plant while still getting the best directionality I can get.

The cable has always seemed its weak point, but, I've had these same 2 mics for years without an issue. I still feel it is super thin (easy to hide) and so I'm always imagining the cable snapping. But it hasn't yet!

Purchased 5 nos. Shure MX292 B/C and all are working good.

Very good stage mike
Using four of these to record and provide room sound for a 107 member chorus. Mikes are hanging across the top of the stage just inside the curtain. The recording sounds fine and the room sound was great once some EQ was added to limit feedback. I have used these for three concerts. The only reason I didn't give them a 5.0 is that I have not used them for orchestra, so I don't know how good they would be for that
