Fully loaded with world-class Midas PRO microphone preamplifiers

For generations of live-sound engineers and many seasoned sound reinforcement veterans here at Sweetwater, Midas preamps define the very sound of quality live sound. The Midas DL16 stage box puts 16 of these highly esteemed microphone preamplifiers in a 2U rack, so you can put them onstage, as close to the performers as possible so you can cut down on long cable runs. And thanks to its high headroom, low noise, and ADAT optical digital outputs, the DL16 also servers as an excellent studio preamp.

AES50 ethernet connectivity for high-quality audio and control

Because it comes equipped with AES50-compatible ethernet connectivity, the Midas DL16 integrates effortlessly with many modern mixing consoles and live-sound hardware environments. If you're running one of many AES50-equipped consoles from Midas or Behringer, all you need is a single Cat 5 ethernet cable to get full bandwidth audio to and from your DL16. What's more, you can daisy chain up to three DL16 stage boxes together, effortlessly assembling a 48-in/24-out digital snake with preamps you can comfortably control from your console or desk.

Ultranet provides compatibility with Powerplay monitor systems

Streamlined, affordable, and super-easy-to-use, everyone's raving about Behringer's Powerplay P16 personal monitoring systems. When you add a Midas DL16 stage box to your PA rig, you're not just getting a great set of remote-controllable preamps in a digital snake that lets you ditch tons of bulky cable, you're ready to add an advanced personal monitoring system directly inline with the rig you already have. That's because your DL16 comes equipped with Ultranet connectivity, which provides your Powerplay P16-M monitor controllers with a digital split straight from the stage.

Reviews

It's better
First of all, this is a very quality built product. Secondly, I'm not sure how to explain it, but you can tell the difference between it and the Behringer version. Quality preamps, and processing.
Awesome Upgrade for X32
Another X32 rack user who wanted more inputs with better preamps and to be able to have the mixer off stage. This gives me a ton of flexibility and helps keep me from running analog snakes with annoying tails to deal with. Throw this in a nice case and you're ready to rock! I also love recording tracks using the midas preamps which gives me some very passable results. Honestly unless you're mixing a really large environment this is the way to go.

The Midas Touch
After using an SD16, I went ahead and bought the DL16 and wow what a difference in sound quality- Many other sound engineers come and take a look and my set up which consist on an x32 rack and the DL16 and yes and ipad to control everything- ( I choose to go the compact way). This is the way to go for me- Thanks Rayan for all your help and the Sweetwater team...

Excellent upgrade for X32 rack
Add title implies this is an addition to my X32 rack, which in itself a great product. Setup and routings were easy...if you understand the how Behringer/ Midas layout works, this is a simple procedure. Basically it"s a better Behringer...32 xlr inputs and 16 outs....very rarely do I need more than 16 inputs, so I setup the dl16 as 1-16 and the x32 as 17-32 and route the Midas as outputs to mains (matrix for crossover mix 1-2/Left Rand right, and max 3 for sub-woofer) and 5 monitor sends all from the front of the rack...Overall I think this a great combo..a lot capabilities in a small footprint.
Great Sound & Easy Setup
I am a drummer and wanna-be sound engineer. I currently have a Behringer X32 Digital mixer and I provide sound for my band. I just wanted a digital stage box so that we could eliminate the dreadful 32CH snake. I had been looking at the Behringer S16 but as always, my Sweetwater sales expert Darius Beatz, came thru for me and recommended the Midas DL16. I wasn't thrilled about paying more money for the DL16 but as Darius explained to me the upgrade in mic preamps, it seemed like a no-brainer.
I received the unit and I couldn't wait to try it out. After careful examination it looked very-well built, especially for what it does. Also, I was very happy to see that it had rack ears already attached and was ready to rack mount. However, it was like buying a new remote for your TV that came without batteries, no rackmount screws were included. For what the unit cost, you"d think they would have included at least two screws. Cheaper than batteries!

I got it to my studio and fortunately I had a few rack mount screws laying around and I got it rack mounted and ready for setup. Setup was a breeze and the unit quickly synced after a few easy configuration settings and routing changes on my X32. Setup was very easy and there are many YouTube videos that show you how.

The pre-amps made a huge difference in sound performance. I made no adjustments on the board (saved scene) and I was actually able to turn up the volume without any feedback (wanna-be sound engineer). The drums came alive and they sounded more like the actual drum without any noise or distortion. I have the May mic system so the mics are inside the shell of my drums and the Midas pro pre-amps really brought out the true sound of the drum, amazing.

Overall, this is my first impression and I haven't had the unit very long and I haven't taken it out on a gig but looking forward to it. With what I've heard thus far, I don't regret paying the extra money and I don't think I ever will. This was always about convenience and I never thought about upgrading my pre-amps and improving sound (thank you Darius). The goal was to replace my snake and that was easily accomplished with a stage box. The icing on the cake was getting the Midas DL16 stage box that vastly improved my overall sound, especially drums. I can't emphasize enough the quality in sound improvement these pre-amps bring to the table.

Bottom-line: If you have a Behringer X32 Digital mixing board and you really wanted the Midas M32 but couldn"t afford it, this is the way to go. Not only would you be getting the digital snake that you so desperately need, you"d be getting the most important component, the pro mic pre-amps. Oh, and not to mention saving …$. Simply amazing!

What Do Our In-house Gear Experts Think?
Ryan Sloan
I added a couple Midas DL16s to my live sound rig, and I've been extremely happy with their performance. One of the best things about the DL16 is that it's fully compatible with Behringer's affordable X32 consoles. I particularly appreciate the upgraded sonics I get from the premium Midas Pro preamps, and each DL16 provides a ton of extra I/O right onstage where I need it.
