I love this snare. It sounds amazing and the finish is just freaking sick. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 for one main reason: it is much harder to tune than I feel like a $ snare should be. Of course, it could just be that I am using heads that don't compliment it the best and/or that I just need to spend more time getting acquainted with it and learn how it likes to be tuned best. But, I will say that I have spent a lot of time making very small adjustments to both the snare side and the batter and it has not been easy to get rid of the buzz and overtones. I found only one video review on youtube for this drum and the sound that guy was getting was amazing. So, maybe I need a 1 ply batter head (dude in the vid was using a coated Ambassador and I am using a coated Pinstripe) and some more patience in tuning, but again, for the money, it shouldn't take all that in my opinion. For the record, I do not subscribe to having the snare side "table top tight". I go a bit looser than that and then tune the batter to taste, but always keeping it tuned lower than the snare side. The only other slight complaint I have is that I feel like the throw-off and clock are not on par with the fit and finish of the rest of the drum. They function flawlessly. Just a tad bit flimsy though if you ask me. I'd like a bit sturdier feel to them. Overall, extremely pleased!
