Made of Siam oak and fitted with internal snare wires, the Mountable Cajon Snare delivers a lively snare sound that can pinch hit for a snare drum in a compact setup. Sweetwater tip: mount it on your hi-hat stand, use a traditional cajon for kick/throne duties, and you've got an ideal percussion kit for tight stages and impromptu acoustic jams.

  • Compact 7.5" diameter mounts anywhere
  • Internal snare wires deliver a lively snare sound

Reviews

Needs Rubber Mallet
Like the other reviewers said, this drum is pretty uninspiring out of the box. I was using light rods like you see in the few videos of this drum on YT. Then I got a cheap rubber mallet to see if it would make a difference, and OMG! Suddenly it's producing this tight, resonant sound that pairs great with my Bassbox. Highly recommend.
Good idea needs work
The feel and sound of the housing are nice. Volume is very lacking. More snare sound and a mic would help. Or a larger casing. The "L" rod on the bottom is not as stable as I would like, not terrible, but could be better. These changes would make it much more likely to end up on stage in my rig. I am already a fan of Meinl products and would love to love this more. Can't attach photo here.

Doesn't sound better than I imagined
No issue whatsoever with the quality of the product, but it sounds like you would expect a hollow piece of plastic with tight snare wires inside would. no resonance, kind of like a plastic cowbell. It says it's made out of oak, but it looks like plastic to me. I added a 10" snare in it's place and playing with brushes or bamboo sticks, that is the ticket for me. No hit on Meinl whatsoever, all their products I have used are great, just a sound issue with this one, maybe just not what I was expecting.
