A Charming Masterbilt Frontier

Epiphone’s Masterbilt collection serves up a meticulous re-creation of the very rare Epiphone Frontier. The Masterbilt Frontier acoustic-electric features solid Sitka spruce atop maple back and sides for delightfully projective tone. On its top, you'll notice the iconic Frontier ”Rope and Cactus” pickguard. The Masterbilt Frontier also sports a Graph Tech NuBone nut and state-of-the-art Fishman Sonitone electronics for accurate acoustic tone when plugged in. The guitarists at Sweetwater are knocked out by the Masterbilt Frontier’s amazing tone, playability, looks, and value. We’re confident you will be, too!

Exceptional tonewoods deliver timeless tone

The Epiphone Masterbilt Frontier combines a toneful Sitka spruce top with maple sides and back. Maple is known for its sonic transparency, which makes it highly reflective of your personal playing style. Solid maple, used for the back and sides of the Frontier, is complemented by a solid Sitka spruce top. As a top tonewood, Sitka spruce offers a combination of strength and elasticity that delivers a broad dynamic range with crisp articulation that’s ideal for a wide range of playing styles, from delicate fingerpicking to aggressive flatpicked strumming. Together, these premium tonewoods make for a highly responsive and expressive instrument.

Hit the stage with Fishman Sonitone electronics

The Epiphone Masterbilt Frontier comes equipped with Fishman Sonitone electronics that are ready for you to hit the stage or plug into your computer for easy recording. The pickup controls are mounted inside the soundhole, giving you easy access to volume and tone. Fishman is a world leader in acoustic amplification, giving you exceptional plugged-in tone with your Epiphone Masterbilt Frontier.

Epiphone Masterbilt Frontier Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:

  • Maple body and Sitka spruce top combine for projective, transparent tone
  • Mahogany neck with a "C" profile is incredibly comfortable for a range of styles
  • Indian laurel fingerboard with pearloid block inlays and 12-inch radius
  • Graph Tech NuBone nut for superb intonation
  • 25.5-inch scale length with 20 frets
  • Fishman Sonitone pickup system transfers every nuance of your tone to your PA or amp

Great guitar for the money!

I only have a couple things that I don't like about it, so I'll start there. It has the same low-grade velcro battery compartment as my old Dove, and came off as soon as I went to put a battery in. I'm just gonna remedy that with some good adhesive and that problem will be solved. I may also try to relocate it somewhere other than the neck joint, which is a pain to reach. The other issue is a couple of *small* dips in the top near the fretboard. Only cosmetic, no structural issue. But I wanted the one chosen for me by fate, and this one is unique to me.

The positives outweigh the negatives greatly. It's a gorgeous color, and I was told they only did 60 on this run. It matchs my Sheraton-II Pro beautifully. The pickguard is engraved, rather than just screen-printed, and it looks stellar. The way this thing projects is ASTOUNDING.I had it tuned to D standard for some Irish folk tunes and it really boomed. It can still be delicate and light, though. It really sounds killer plugged into a good system, as well. No d.i., even, just straight in. The inlays on mine have more pink and orange than I've seen in any other mother-of-pearl in a long time, again lending to the uniqueness of it. In all, Sweetwater really knocked it outta the park. Thanks, Cliff, for the help!
