Clean, Transparent, Compact PA System

The Maui 28 G3 is a portable PA system that packs some serious power. The 1,000-watt system consists of two elements: the Maui 28 G3 column array and the Maui 28 G3 subwoofer. A dozen 3.5-inch midrange drivers and two 1-inch tweeters housed in the column array supply a crystal-clear and vivid soundstage. Meanwhile, the 120- x 25-degree dispersion pattern easily fills small venues, and the subwoofer’s 12-inch driver pumps out chest-thumping lows. LD Systems tells Sweetwater that the Maui 28 G3 portable PA system boasts a cardioid design, which provides up to 18dB rear attenuation and a controlled midrange. Whether you’re a public speaker, mobile DJ, or buying for your band, the Maui 28 G3 portable PA system delivers the articulate sound your performances demand.

Raising the Bar for Column Speakers

Hey there, fellow sound enthusiasts! As a seasoned wedding DJ, I've been on a never-ending quest for that "perfect" sound system, the one that can drop the beat when needed, or deliver those heart-melting melodies during the first dance. I've seen a lot, heard a lot, and along this fascinating journey, every once in a while, a piece of equipment comes along that raises the bar. The LD Systems Maui 28 G3 did just that.

Positives:

Power and Clarity: Man, oh man, the Maui 28 G3 really brings the noise - and I mean that in the best way possible. With a solid 1,000-watt output, this baby brings clear, rich sound that perfectly blankets those intimate venues. The midrange is detailed, the highs crystal-clear - it's a showstopper.

Impressive Lows: I love a good bass drop as much as the next DJ, and the subwoofer in the Maui 28 G3 does not disappoint. The 12-inch driver serves up deep, resonating bass that gets everyone on the dance floor moving. I've seen first-hand how much my crowds dig it.

Cardioid Design: Ever feel like you're fighting with your sound system? Me too, but less so with the Maui 28 G3. The cardioid design, with its 18dB rear attenuation, keeps the midrange controlled, enhances sound quality, and decreases the chance of that pesky feedback. It's like a nice, smooth ride instead of a battle.

Negative:

Price: Nothing this good comes cheap, right? The Maui 28 G3 is a premium product with a premium price tag. It may not fit into every budget, but for those ready to invest in their sound, I'd argue it's worth every penny.
Conclusion:

Despite the hit to the wallet, the Maui 28 G3's superior sound performance makes it a standout choice for my fellow DJs, public speakers, or bands. It's a high-quality, robust pro audio system that'll take your sound from good to great. If you're ready to step up your audio game, give the Maui 28 G3 a look (and a listen!). Rock on, my friends!

From a live band perspective

I decided to move away from point of reference FOH PA speakers to a column array system for our classic rock and country band. This was motivated by a desire for more balanced, clear sound. My concern was whether this type of system would competently handle the sound for electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar and drums. We play indoors and outdoors for up to 200 people.

After very extensive research and careful consideration, my gut feeling was to go with the LD Maui 23 G3. What impressed me was the build quality of these systems. They were obviously designed to withstand the rigors of transportation and live gigs. So, we had the chance to test them with two shows this past weekend. The first gig was outdoors with 150+ people. They simply amazed us! Plenty of volume with headroom to spare. Even more impressive was the rich blend of bass, midrange and highs with such definition and clarity. We had many comments from people who said how great the sound was. The outdoor test was a happy success!

The next night we played indoors to about 100 people. Concrete floor, lots of glass windows and low ceiling. This required a lower volumn setup. Again, the sound balance, richness and clarity was excellent. We truly were surprised how well this system performed. And again, many compliments from people about the "great sound."
It seems that the 120 degree horizontal sound dispersion truly works as touted.

As a band we are convinced the LD Maui 28 G3 was a perfect choice for us. They are worth the price. You hear what you pay for!

Clean highs good lows

This tower is a huge upgrade from my Jbl Irx's. For a 12sub it has good clean bass, really clear vocals and leaves alot of headroom. Set up is fast and looks really nice. cant wait for the upcoming mixer version to complete my pair

Very Impressive!

Just received my system that was on back-order from Sweetwater and been playing through it all week. Very impressive and worth the wait! Extremely easy to setup, very solid and well built. The clarity of the sound is top notch at any volume level. Looking forward to hearing this bad boy on my next live event.

Massive Upgrade to the Maui G2

The Maui 28 G3 is not just the "new version" of the G2. It is a vastly superior speaker in every way.

The improvement in the overall sound and perceived volume of the G3 vs. the G2 is astonishing with more balanced highs and lows and a full, lush and clear midrange that was simply not present on the G2. The 12" sub is deeper and more punchy than the 2x8" in the G2.

The wide dispersion field is similar to the G2, but there is a lot more fullness and balance to the sound at the outer extremes of that 120 degree area with the G3.

The entire thing is built like a tank and seems far more roadworthy than the G2.

A pair of these easily supports a full band as FOH speakers in most venues, and in smaller/lower volume rooms negates the need for monitor wedges as the columns can be set behind the band.

Once you hear a set of these in action, you understand how amazing a product LD has put out.
