We've Got Your Overheads

The Telefunken M60 FET Cardioid Stereo Set includes the two mics, two mic cables, two shockmounts, and two windscreens, plus a zipper carrying case that holds both mics.

Telefunken microphones have long been a recording industry standard. Now they fill an even larger space in the studio world with their first non-tube small-diaphragm condenser microphones, such as the M60 FET! The cardioid pattern and a flat EQ response between 150Hz and 7kHz with an airy peak at 8kHz makes the M60 perfect for applications such as drum overheads, hi-hats, and acoustic instruments, where a true sound with a clear and glassy top end is what you're after. Sweetwater engineers know that the famous Telefunken diamond badge on the body of the Telefunken M60 FET means that you can record confidently with one of the best in the game.

Telefunken M60 Stereo Set Features:
  • Matched pair of M60 FET cardioid mics

  • Great for drum overheads, hi-hats, and acoustic instruments
  • Ships with 2 mic cables, shockmounts, and windscreens

Beautiful sdc’s - but careful with moisture
Love my Telefunken m60 pair, especially on acoustic guitar. Beautiful Chrystal clear throughout the sound spectrum. Have even used these on vocals (but need a serious pop filter as Sdc's are sensitive to plosives.

I was going to go with the schoeps but after speaking to an expert and watching some comparisons I decided to take the plunge. The m60s in the context of a mix will sound extremely close to the schoeps. Only issue is that they are VERY sensitive to moisture. I thought the mics were broken at a stage - the noise floor hiss was around -40dB and after speaking to Telefunken they told me to avoid any moisture (it was in a room with bad ventilation). I placed the capsules in a bag of rice in the sun for a few hours then plugged them in - Wala! They were back to normal. Have had to do this twice since purchasing them a few years ago. However, if you look after them and keep some of those anti-moisture bags in the case, they are real bang for their buck!

Some FUN from TeleFUNken
My application is different than most; I'm using SDCs to mic interview participants for broadcast/podcast. The best word to describe the M60s is, "fun." They're not super-clinical like some of the high end SDCs (which I'm also using), they're not just about enjoying the jangle of steel strings. They're sculpted, in a subtle way. There's a bit of silkiness to the high end. Noise is better than average for an SDC. On voices they are crisp, yet meaty, with a round low end. Fun! I hope t-funk sells a million of them.

Brilliant
These mics are excellent and extremely versatile. They sound amazing on everything including voice. Their sound is balanced, but not sterile; warm, but not boxy. The high end also sparkles in an extremely pleasing way.

I exchanged the first pair of capsules with Telefunken because I believed them to be too noisy. Months later, I came to the conclusion that these capsules are simply extremely sensitive to humidity, which drastically increases the noise floor. I have since taken precautions when storing the mics, and if using them on a humid day, I will make sure to keep the provided wind screens on and only use them for short periods of time. My only other complaint is the flimsy case that was provided with the mics.

The above inconveniences are worth it. These are easily my favorite microphones even though they cost far less than others in my collections. Their sound is simply brilliant.

Crystal Clear Yet Slightly Nostalgic
These mics give me a warm fuzzy feeling on the inside. They are crystal clear but sound slightly nostalgic (in the best way possible).

Just Amazing
I am comparing these to my Neumann KM184
Nothing to be compared. I use them for Guitar and Kanoon
The Stereo image is simply impressive.
