What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items

Reviews

Great Acoustic Amp
The Fishman Loudbox Artist BT is an outstanding acoustic amp. It is solid and clean sounding and has nice effects. It has bluetooth available for playing music during your breaks or for playing backing tracks! Its two separate channels have 60 watts each - plenty of power and it can get plenty loud. Seriously, do you need more than 60 watts per channel?! It also has dual outputs for a Front-Of-House board or a PA system. The two separate and identical channels are perfect for guitar and vocal mic, or two guitars, or two mics as a portable PA. It has a two switch pedal available separately which is highly recommended for playing live or just rehearsing. One switch turns the signals to your guitar/mic on/off so you can pull out the jack without making that unwanted popping noise. The reverb stays on but the second switch turns the chorus, flanger, or echo on/off for playing on your chorus or bridge parts for variety in your songs. The great news is that it is half the size and half the weight at 25 pounds than my prior nice acoustic amp, so it is much easier to carry or travel around with! You can't go wrong with this amp for fun or serious live performance.
Great Sound / Volume in a Compact Amp!!

I have been using the Fishman Loudbox "Micro" for a while, and I love the sound quality for both my acoustic guitar and my vocals. It is great for smaller venues. The only "con" is that outdoor gigs and larger rooms are a challenge. At higher output, the Micro tends to clip / cut out. This Loudbox Artist is FANTASTIC!!! Plenty of power without sacrificing tone. It also has more options for tones / effects and it's not much bigger than the Micro. Both amps are terrific!! I am sold on Fishman for our acoustic duo / trio gigs.

Music background: Gigging for over 25 years.
A good amp for an electric cello!!
As an amateur builder of musical instruments, I thought building an electric cello would be a nice challenge. Since I design the builds as well, I did the same with the cello. An Underwood acoustic bass pickup was used. Since the installation of the pickup were not done to any recognized standard, I just assumed either there would be no or just bad tone when completed.
With the build was complete, I played the instrument thru my studio monitoring system and was surprised by the tone, not good, but not bad either. The same results with a guitar tube amp.

I contacted my sales rep at Sweetwater, John Castro, who guided my thru some possibilities for a good amp. The final choice was the Fishman Loudbox Artist BT 120. Just out of the box, the tone dramatically improved. After some experimentation with an additional preamp, what sounds the best is just this Fishman amp. The tone of the cello is open and warm through the range of the instrument. No distortion at all. The EQ on this amp is musical and small adjustments help the tone. The on board reverb is very good. Just play a note, and the reverb effect sounds like an acoustic cello has just been played.

Keep in mind that the Underwood pickup has no preamp. There is a preamp built into the Fishman amp with the use of a 5M Ohm pot at the input.

This review may not help a guitarist make a choice for amps, but if you play an electric cello, for home practice, or a small venue, this is the amp!

And my thanks to John for his guidance.
Great and great company.
Great little amp. Perfect combination of size, controls, effects, DI and so on. And plenty loud. Need more then DI out to FOH or PA.

The best next part. Mine is 12 years old and gig worn to the max. Started acting up. Sent it the head and they sent me a new one 50 bucks flat fee. Plus the shipping to Fishman. Got it all put back together. Works perfect again. Ready for the next decade.
Music background: Acoustic performance, recording enthusiast.
Fishman Loudbox Artist - Great Amp
I bought this amp with plans to use it with my LR Baggs equipped acoustic violin. For this I have been very pleased. The amp has enhanced the sound of my violin all while giving me the option to add things like chorus reverb and echo. It has made playing an extra joy.
The real bonus has been using this amp with my PRS electric guitar. I've been blown away by the sound! I was using a Fender blues junior amp and could never get more than 'meh' for sound out of it. I did not expect this Fischman to sound so good with an electric guitar. I bought the Fishman to amplify acoustic instruments, not electric. What a great surprise.
I dragged my feet before buying this amp for months. My advice - don't wait, you won't be disappointed. This amp is incredible.

Want to make your guitar sound its best? Take it from the lifelong performers at Sweetwater and check out Fishman. If you've bought an acoustic-electric guitar, there's a good chance it came with Fishman electronics, but it's easy enough to upgrade your favorite instrument too - just ask the pros in Sweetwater's Guitar Repair Shop. Do you perform? Are you a singer/songwriter? We'd love to turn you on to Fishman's Loudbox amps and amazing pedals. But Fishman isn't limited to acoustic electronics. Many of us have tricked out our electric guitars with Fishman Fluence pickups and TriplePlay wireless MIDI systems too.
