Pro Monitoring for the Home Studio

Monitoring in an untreated environment is never ideal. But the Dynaudio LYD series is making clean sound for the home or project studio a reality. Dual Class D power amps feed a total of 130 watts into a powerful 8" driver (80W) and smooth soft-dome tweeter (50W) for accurate sound reproduction. And three switches make it quick to find your room's best sound. First, a Position switch filters out reflective interference when placed within 20" of a wall. Next, a Sound Balance selector increases or reduces brightness depending on your room's character - great for moving between rooms with treated and bare walls. And finally, a three-way Bass Extension switch gives you control of your Dynaudio LYD-8's low end in 10Hz increments.

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Incredible!

The Dynaudio LYD 8 monitors are the most expensive pair of monitors I've ever owned. Let me assure you, they're worth every penny. The clarity is breathtaking, the midrange is right where it should be, and the bottom end is extended and solid. No boom here! The marketing for these monitors states that they sound the same at any volume level. I was a little skeptical, but it's completely true. I can't blast my monitors in my current space, and I don't need to now. If these are in your budget, the LYD 8 or any others in the series, are worth it.

Dyn Audio

I bought a pair of Dynaudio several years ago. A friend of mine made me an offer and I sold them. A couple of weeks ago I pulled the trigger and got another pair. I also got the mixes back I had been missing for a while. They are so accurate. Any little thing you change in your mix is noticeable. If you are serious about accurate mixes get a pair of these and sleep well.

LYD 8

Great sounding but still revealing . Seems to maintain frequency balance at all volumes which allows mixing at all levels. Translate well to other systems

GREAT!

I've had my LYD 8s for about 6 months now and have done a few projects on them. Mixes done on them translate great across multiple systems (cars, headphones, PAs). The best part is they stay accurate at lower volumes, meaning I don't have to crank it to hear an accurate representation of how the low end is sitting within the mix. Overall I'm completely thrilled with them, I'd advise those who have no volume limits to invest in a sub to go with it, they shine even better when paired with a sub.

Very happy with these and glad I took the risk. Back to listening…

Just got my LYD-8s today from Sweetwater. Took a month but they made it! First response is WOW. Full range. Absolutely clear across the whole thing. Low frequency accuracy is astonishing and haven't heard something so clear down there in a long time. Mid range is classic Dynaudio: very present and transparent. Easy to hear what is going on there. The high end seems like it could be a little fatiguing, but will try out the Dark vs Neutral setting to hear if that helps. I extended the low frequency response to the lowest setting, sacrificing amplitude for freq. response. I still had to put the sensitivity down to the -6dB position, so no issue there for me. And changing that setting is what made the low end super clear.

Now for one of the big reasons I bought these… they claimed to have an even freq. response even at low volumes. I was skeptical, but wow it delivers. At very low volumes, the bass and mid range still are very present and very clear and easy to hear. I could see myself working at low volumes on these quite happily with great results.

The only thing I don't like about these is how clearly they point out bad mixes! Some of mine in particular!

Very happy with these and glad I took the risk. Back to listening…

What Do Our In-house Gear Experts Think?

Ashton Vaudt

Are your mixes missing that "it" factor that makes them stand out from the rest? Mine were until I set these up. I noticed the difference immediately, and mixing suddenly became much more enjoyable. Bass is tight, mids sit right in nicely, and they top off with articulate highs that I rarely have to smooth out. It's a lot easier to mix when you accurately hear what's going on in the DAW. The LYD's definitely do that for me.
