The Little Martin That Could!

Small but mighty, the LXK2 Little Martin makes exceptional traveling guitars for high-quality 6-string tunes on the go. Featuring a Koa-grained HPL (high-pressure laminate) on the top, back, sides, and headstock, this compact companion isn't just space-efficient — it sounds fantastic, too! Its fingerboard and bridge are crafted from environmentally-conscious FSC Certified Richlite, with its neck carved from natural-colored Stratabond for an organic, earthy vibe. As is to be expected from the inlay on the headstock, this short-scale is head-to-toe exemplary of that storied and high-quality Martin craftsmanship that you can't find anywhere else. The LXK2 Little Martin is durable and easy to play and makes a perfect "pick up and play" guitar that lets you jam at home or on the road — it's also an excellent choice for students! Whatever your musical needs, let this beautiful koa-encloaked LXK2 Little Martin from Sweetwater lead off your next musical journey!

Sustainable building materials

One of the most appealing features of the Little Martin LXK2 is how Martin designed it with materials that are simultaneously environmentally sustainable, durable, and more than capable of delivering traditional Martin acoustic tone! The bridge and fingerboard are made with FSC Richlite, a long-lasting composite material that offers old-school Martin tone but with space-age reliability. Richlite is totally unaffected by temperature and humidity changes, making it a perfect choice for musicians who travel often or live in challenging climates. In addition, the koa HPL back and sides deliver a lively sound, and they're far less likely to dry out and crack compared to solid wood designs.

Martin LXK2 Little Martin Acoustic Guitar Features:

  • Modified O-style body is ideal for travel, couching playing, and musicians of a smaller stature
  • Koa pattern HPL top offers a lively top-end tone with a gorgeous dark grain appearance
  • Koa pattern HPL back and sides are strong and offer top-matching resonant tonal appeal
  • 23-inch scale length offers a loose, comfortable playing feel that’s great for players of all sizes
  • Natural Stratabond neck with a Modified Low Oval neck shape with taper for high playing performance
  • Smooth and low-maintenance hand-rubbed satin finish

Reviews

Best mini guitar
I found it quite challenging to find a good true mini guitar. This martin sounds awesome and is great for kids that want to learn how to play the guitar or anyone such as myself that just likes to have a mini to jam out on whenever. Great little guitar and the neck is actually normal sized which helps a lot too.
Pleasant surprise.
I ordered the Little Martin from Sweetwater because I didn't want to take a more expensive guitar in a car banging around Michigan's Upper Peninsula for a week and a half, but I still wanted to practice every day.

Firstly, Sweetwater's ordering process and customer service are excellent.

The surprise was how much fun I have playing it.

It's smaller than the D-18 I'm used to, and there is some neck dive as the neck is heavy relative to the laminate body.

The volume is really good for such a small guitar, and it's perfectly intonated up and down the fretboard.

The tone naturally isn't as expansive as a dreadnought, but it is pleasant and expressive.

I'm very happy with this purchase, it is an excellent travel guitar. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the neck weight issue.
Good travel guitar
Great smaller guitar for a young person, or for a travel guitar. Made from wood pulp and resin but you would swear it was real wood. Plays excellent and it is great to have around the house as a "beater" that you can leave out and grab for a few quick plays. Highly recommended and a really good value for the money. I was not playing as much with my Taylor because it was in a case in the closet. It's nice to have a good sounding small guitar that I can grab at any time.
Granddaughter’s Guitar
I purchased this guitar for my granddaughter. She needed something slightly smaller in size, than a full-size guitar. She loves it! It's a great sounding, and great playing guitar! I can't thank Brent, and the crew at Sweetwater enough, for making me a hero in her eyes!
Music background: I have played music for 50 years.
Wonderful travel guitar
This is my second guitar from Sweetwater . I was looking for a small travel guitar that did not sound like a toy and one that could take a bit of abuse while traveling. I have played many travel guitars in my search and this is by far my favorite "affordable" travel guitar. (I do love the gs minis but the cost is much more and I wanted all HPL). The sound is very warm, sustain is great , it's pretty loud for a little guitar. My other guitar is a Martin OM 21 so I'm used to a very high end guitar sound and I still really love the sound of this one! Many other travel guitars I tried did not make me want to play them and this one made me want to pick it up and play it…. Even when I'm home ! I have taken it on two trips so far and I absolutely love it. I even sat in the back seat of my car while my husband drove and was able to happily practice on the drives. I am surprised that an all HPL guitar sounds so good. I'm so happy I bought this , I'm trying to keep up my practice routine even while traveling and it's been perfect. My ONLY complaint is that the koa print on it is pretty unattractive to me. Koa is so pretty , not sure why Martin didn't choose a more attractive print ? Oh well , I bought it for sound and travel , and maybe others think it's pretty .
