The Perfect Combo of Cutting Attack and Midrange Overtones

Are you searching for an affordable, show-stopping snare drum? The Ludwig Supralite snare is ready to shine under the brightest stage lights. Ludwig outfitted the Supralite with only the highest-quality components available — 2.3mm triple-flanged hoops, chrome-plated brass lugs, and brass snare wires. Best of all, it sounds fantastic! Its highly mirror-polished, 1mm beaded steel shell pops with visual flash and snappy attack with broad midrange overtones. Plus, the Supralite Snare Drum is well priced to fit just about any equipment budget. Whether it's a top-notch go-to snare or a solid backup, purchase your Ludwig Supralite Snare Drum from Sweetwater today for results you can rely on.

The Ludwig legacy

With a proud legacy that dates back to 1909, Ludwig drums are a favorite among Sweetwater drummers for their warm, punchy sound. The world has heard them in front of Cream's Ginger Baker, keeping the pulse behind Queen at Live Aid, and laying down the monstrous sound of Led Zeppelin's "When the Levee Breaks." But the company’s biggest break came when Ringo Starr proudly played them on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. The Supralite snare carries this impressive legacy forward.

Ludwig Supralite Snare Drum Features:

  • Polished steel snare drum that's built to last with show-stopping good looks and a great sound to match
  • Strong, durable 2.3mm triple-flanged hoops securely clamp drumheads for superior tone
  • Beaded steel shell provides a bright, cutting attack with strong midrange overtones

Reviews

Da@n great snare for its price!!!
Well I bought the 14x6.5 Supralite a few months ago and I have to say that it is definitely a pretty solid snare considering the price point. I personally switched out the heads with a Remo Powerstroke Coated P77 on the batter side and a Remo Ambassador clear snare side for the resonant head. I also replaced the stock snares with a DW 30 strand set for more snare response. Since it's a chrome plated steel drum it definitely has a really prominent "ringy" sound but dampening can really smooth it out how you see fit. The P77 batter helps to keep overtones tamed. I did all these changes because of my own personal preferences but that's the beauty of it. I just hope my input here helps those looking at this particular model gives you some insight and perspective to what you may be looking for. Cheers to all of you.
Love it
You can't go wrong with this snare. I just got it the other day and it sounds amazing.rim has a beautiful click and the ring on the snare is just right. I literally got chills when i first hit it. (I absolutely love drums)It's a great all around snare, sounds good in any genre. Has great low end and high end is phenomenal. Tuning was super easy. I switched the stock head to a coated emperor and I added 1 drum dot and its good to go. Thanks sweetwater for the awesome deal.
Music background: Hobby but I want to join a band and make youtube videos
A great snare at a great price!
The Supralight is a workhorse that shines through the mix with an incredible crack and with the sensitivity to articulate the faintest ghost notes.
What an incredible snare that also sounds right at any tuning. Tune it low for a fat Bonham back beat or all the way tight for an outstanding bright jazz tone.
No need to run out and change the factory heads as the single ply batter and thin resonant heads allow this drum to sing with just the right overtones with no dampening needed. If your a heavy hitter, 2 ply heads may serve you better, but out of the box this drum is ready for most anything.
The price point can't be beat. The Supralight out performs drums that cost many times more.
If your in search of a go to snare for any situation, look no further, you found it!
Fantastic Snare!
This thing sounds so good at any style of music or tuning.
What more do you need
Bought this for my church literally because I saw a video of Chris Tomlin's drummer saying this is what he uses. Got it in and the played it with the stock head and it sounded good, but not spectacular. Put an Evans HD dry on it and it transformed into the perfect snare! Cranking up and it gets snappy and still has complexity and depth, put a big fat snare drum on it and loosen the wires a little and it sounds fat and huge. The lower price tag has no indication to the sounds under the hood for this snare.
