The Best of Both Worlds

For electric guitar players, gigging with an acoustic-electric guitar can be uncomfortable. Those deeper bodies with hard edges can leave you feeling worse for wear after you step off the stage. But with the ESP LTD TL-6 acoustic-electric guitar, that's a thing of the past. This acoustic guitar strikes the perfect balance between acoustic guitar tone and electric guitar feel. Its slim mahogany body features a finished spruce top for premium looks and a powerful, articulate tone that translates to plugged-in and unplugged performances. It has a Thin U-shaped mahogany neck and jumbo frets that feel like they should belong on an electric guitar. And when it's time to plug in, premium Fishman electronics reproduce an authentic tone that sits well in any mix. Designed to be played onstage, the ESP LTD TL-6 acoustic-electric guitar will change your set for the better.

A neck fit for an electric guitar

To provide a playing feel unlike any other acoustic guitar, the LTD TL-6 is equipped with a fast-playing 3-piece mahogany neck. It's carved into a Thin "U" profile that's reminiscent of the lightning-fast necks of the 1980s. Your fingers will delight at the smooth feel of the roasted jatoba fingerboard. And to round out the electric-style playing experience, LTD equipped this guitar with 22 jumbo frets for a familiar playing experience. If you prefer the feel of a thin and fast neck, Sweetwater believes you'll love the LTD TL-6 acoustic-electric guitar.

Premium tonewoods make for great acoustic character

For the TL-6, LTD chose choice tonewoods to provide the best possible acoustic sound. The mahogany back and sides create a deep, warm, and highly resonant tone. For maximum output and articulation, a finished spruce top — a hallmark of quality acoustic instruments everywhere — rounds out the body design. Together with the set mahogany neck and jatoba fingerboard, the ESP LTD TL-6 produces a potent blend of excellent definition and savory resonance.

Fishman electronics for stellar plugged-in tone

Since the TL-6 is designed to be a perfect stage companion, it needs standout electronics. The team over at LTD didn't disappoint! They equipped this acoustic-electric guitar with a Fishman Sonicore under-saddle pickup. Sonicore pickups are trusted by guitarists all over the world due to their impeccable accuracy. The pickup runs straight into a Fishman TL-3 preamp, complete with tone-shaping controls and an onboard tuner. Once you plug in, you'll have an immediately usable tone that's great for any mix.

ESP LTD TL-6 Thinline Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:

  • Thinline body design is comfortable for playing standing up
  • Mahogany back and sides produce a warm, resonant tone
  • Finished spruce top enhances power and articulation
  • Thin "U" neck shape feels sleek and plays fast
  • Fishman Sonicore electronics reproduce natural-sounding plugged-in tones
  • Roasted jatoba fingerboard and jumbo frets feel smooth and comfortable under your fingers

I Love This Guitar!

I've just unboxed my TL-6, and it's absolutely gorgeous, and sounds as good as it looks, and plays better than any other acoustic guitar I've played. Obviously it doesn't sound that great acoustically, but when plugged in it sounds rich and bright.
Rated 5/5

Perfect for loud, amplified acoustic, including overdrive/distortion.

I have 2 of these; one in black and one in natural (both steel string). The black has a maple top, the natural has a spruce top (but they sound the same to me).
I love these guitars. I often split my guitar signal with one cable to an acoustic amplifier (or straight to the PA system) and the other cable to an electric guitar amp. This gives me a blend of the two sounds including whatever overdrive or distortion I want to dial in on the electric side. This is great for playing in a band setting. This is the best guitar I have found for this as it is very resistant to feedback while still giving an authentic acoustic sound. Not all acoustics sound good when overdriven but this one does. Not all thinline semi solid acoustic-electrics sound good amplified in general but this one does.

I also love the feel and playability of this instrument, not to mention it's stunning looks and design. I like the balance/weight, it's thin width, strap button and jack placement and the electronics. The string-through bridge also eliminates bridge pins. The only con/downside for me is having to unscrew the battery compartment; but the battery does last a long time.

I love this guitar for playing live, solo or with my band. You can rock the house without feedback.
The TL-6 sounds great, feels superb, and looks killer.
Music background: Semi pro acoustic solo and rock band bigger.

Great Comfort and Sound

I am an electric guitar player in a working band. Occasionally we are called upon to play acoustic shows. I always found it difficult to go from my solid body electric to my jumbo acoustic-electric. I was uncomfortable with the way it felt hanging on the strap in front of me and it changed the way I approached the neck with my fret hand. This guitar was a welcome addition to my fleet! It feels like I'm playing an electric when standing and the sound is excellent! I've plugged it directly into the mixer and was able to get a sound that was as full as my jumbo. I also have played it through my Fishman Loudbox Mini, using the direct output to mixer, and it was even better! You will not get a full sound out of this guitar when unplugged. That's not what it was made for. So to conclude, the plugged in sound from this guitar is excellent. The fit and finish is also excellent. No flaws in the paint (mine's black,) the frets are perfect, the neck is fully bound so no sharp fret ends and the guitar holds tuning well. The only improvement to this guitar would be the addition of a quick access door for battery replacement. At this time you have to unscrew a plate on the back of the guitar. (Hence the 4.5 star rating.) I like the simplicity of the Fishman panel which includes a tuner, low, mid, high controls, volume and low battery indicator.
All in all, I enjoy this guitar! It's comfortable, sounds great and will become part of my onstage arsenal. The price is also a strong point especially if you look at other brands that make slimline acoustic electrics. I've seen some people state that ESP/LTD should have added a humbucker at the neck. Sure, that would be cool but that's not why I bought it. I chose it for it's ease if play and acoustic sound.
Music background: Member of a classic rock band.

It's a workhorse

I really dig this guitar, especially it's portability. It's fairly light, looks great on stage, and is less prone to feedback in a live gig situation. All of that being said, it really needs some EQ and effects help to shine. I run it through my pedal board with some compression (to compensate for the lack of low end), a bit of reverb for sparkle, and an external EQ pedal to really dial it in.

All in all, it's become my main onstage acoustic which allows me to leave the jumbo at home.
Music background: Working musician

Battery replacement way too cumbersome

Decent playing guitar but god forbid your battery dies during a gig. A guitar that requires a phillips screwdriver and an pry bar to replace the battery has a horrible design flaw.
