Whet Your Appetite with Slash's Signature Gibson Les Paul Standard

Part of Gibson’s Slash Collection, the Slash Les Paul Standard is a solidbody electric guitar that’s worthy of its namesake. Inject your playing with incredible warmth and sustain, thanks to a resonant solid mahogany body, that’s accented by an eye-catching AAA figured maple top. Enjoy unbelievable playability, courtesy of a comfortable rosewood-capped "C"-shaped neck. And when you plug into your British stack, you’ll experience a mid-forward sustain and crunch that every Slash fan is sure to recognize, by virtue of dual Custom Burstbucker Alnico II pickups. The Slash Les Paul Standard sports handwired electronics, color-coordinated hardware, and a bevy of special Slash-approved touches.

Classic construction with Slash’s personal touches

The Slash Les Paul Standard conjures the vibe of the influential Gibson guitars Slash has used during his career. It includes a solid mahogany body, a AAA figured maple top, and an easy-playing "C"-shaped neck. The electronics consist of a handwired harness with Orange Drop capacitors. You also get color-coordinated hardware components, Slash’s “Scully” signature drawing on the back of the headstock, and Slash’s signature on the truss rod cover. Guitarists here at Sweetwater are genuine Les Paul connoisseurs, and they love the sound, look, and feel of this guitar.

Slash's Signature Les Paul delivers scorching rock tones with its Twin Custom Burstbucker Alnico II humbuckers

If you covet the sustain, crunch, and midrange that are Slash's trademark, it all starts with the pickups. The Custom Burstbucker Alnico II humbuckers in the Gibson Slash Les Paul Standard evoke the tone of his legendary AFD Derrig Les Paul, exhibiting a warm, moderate output that's perfect for everything from classic rock to blues to jazz. These pickups are wound with just the right amount of boosted output to make your guitar sing. The Slash Les Paul Standard boasts handwired electronics with Orange Drop capacitors to ensure spot-on vintage tone.

Slash — a brief biography

Known primarily for his work with the hard rock band Guns N' Roses during the late 1980s, Slash has garnered a well-earned reputation as one of rock's preeminent guitarist. Named the runner-up on Time magazine's list of "The 10 Best Electric Guitar Players" in 2009, and No. 65 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" in 2011, Slash continues to receive accolades from critics and music fans alike. Aside from his enormous success with Guns N' Roses, Slash has also achieved acclaim with his side project, Slash's Snakepit, and as a member of the supergroup Velvet Revolver. He's recorded four solo albums, including three with his band, Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. In 2012, Slash received one of rock music's highest honors when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside his Guns N' Roses bandmates.

Why Buy Your Guitar from Sweetwater?

See how Sweetwater goes to great lengths to give you the very best online guitar buying experience. From our online Guitar Gallery that allows you to see and select the exact instrument you want to our 55-point Inspection process and our in-house guitar techs, we take the guesswork out of buying your next guitar online.

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Stunning Guitar and Service!!

This is an absolutely stunning Les Paul! The fit, finish and playability are all top notch. The AAA top is a work of art. Couldn't be happier! This was my first purchase from Sweetwater. Initially I was drawn to the site due to the ability to see the actual guitar you are purchasing. After my entire experience, there is so much more that makes this a great company to order from. You can tell these guys really take pride in their product and go the extra mile to assure everything is perfect before they send anything out. Edward was an awesome salesman and helped answer all my questions and get me exactly what I was looking for! My order arrived in Montana very quickly and in perfect condition. I'll be ordering again in the future. Thanks guys!

7lbs 14ozs of Rock n Roll heaven!

When I saw this guitar, I was immediately intrigued. When I saw the weight, I knew it was special and had to have it. Turns out I was not wrong. This is perhaps the best Les Paul I have ever played, much less the best out of the 3 I own. It's so resonant and has a growl to it I don't hear in my other guitars, which there are many now. That may be because of the pickups being a little hotter, but I think it's because it's just an awesome guitar. It came with a fairly decent setup, far from the worst I have encountered and completely very playable out of box. The setup was pretty minimal, just dialing her to my specs I like. I have only seen sub 8lbs Les Paul's from the wildwood feather weight models, which reserve the very best lightweight mahogany for those guitars. This guitar is not weight relived or chambered. It's a one piece body, with a traditional 2 piece flamed maple top. Gibson is truly putting out some of the best, finest guitars they have ever made since the new leadership took over. They are better than ever, and this Les Paul is the evidence of that. It sings, it sustains, it freaking rocks and does all the things playing absolutely beautifully. I could not be happier with this guitar, and I'm not sure it can get better than this one. My collection now consists 13 guitars from various manufacturers, but THIS one is my number one now. I love this guitar so much I appropriately named her, Flaquita which is Spanish slang for a skinny hot chick.

Favorite Guitar

Been playing for 27 years and always wanted a AAA flame top. This guitar looks and plays and sounds unbelievable. This is by far my favorite guitar. Slash and Gibson really put a great package together for an affordable price as anything close would be over twice the price. Thanks to Aric for giving me all the information on this guitar and all the good people at Sweetwater. Would never buy a guitar from anywhere else.

Really solid guitar

I have played many high end custom shop guitars over the years, I have also owned many Gibson guitars. This guitar in particular is a work horse. The fit and finish is stunning, the guitar is very comfortable to play, I sold my 2023 60s standard for this one as the sound is richer, more full, and cuts through a band mix really well. Even if you don't like Slash the guitar is great for blues, rock, and even southern rock. When the guitar is plugged into an amp and ran through a clean channel it almost sounds like very Carlos Santana like. If you play a lot, record, and gig this guitar will hold up in almost any situation you throw at it. I recommend ripping off the Gibson Strings and putting Elixor Optiwebs on it!

Very Pleased, To Say The Least

Bought a demo Anaconda Burst… I've bought demo models from Sweetwater in the past, and they've always been killer, with spot on set ups, and this was no exception. Sweetwater went out of their way to point out the finish blemishes, which to date I still really can't see on the actual guitar, and the pictures they posted simply didn't do the flame top justice. I have a couple of Les Paul R8's that I love, and this Les Paul holds its own with those 2 custom shop Les Pauls. Slash's pickups are not high output by any stretch, but they definitely have more than enough bite to set them apart from my other Les Pauls.

If you're on the fence because it's a demo

From rockers to jazz cats, there are generations of guitarists right here at Sweetwater who swear by Gibson guitars. Not only do they make many of the most iconic solidbody electric guitars of all time - the Les Paul, the SG, the Flying V - but they also produce classic hollowbody and semi-hollowbody models and some of the most iconic acoustic guitars on the planet. We play them all! Our close relationship with Gibson often allows us to stock exclusive models and rare finds, and we're always happy to turn players and collectors on to the gems in the Sweetwater Guitar Gallery. We also have access to all the latest Gibson hardware, and the Sweetwater Guitar Repair Shop has upgraded countless guitars with their top-of-the-line humbuckers, classic P-90s, and more.
