The Amazing 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS

The Gibson Custom 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS is oozing with classic tone and vintage-original-spec authenticity. Its eye-grabbing VOS nitrocellulose lacquer finish captures the depth, richness, and hue of a genuine '58 Les Paul Standard. 1958 was the year the erstwhile Goldtop transitioned to an eye-catching sunburst finish, which makes the '58 one of the most iconic solidbody guitars ever made. Handcrafted by Gibson's elite Custom Shop luthiers, the 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS captures the essence of this important instrument in all its glory. It features top-shelf tonewoods, including a solid mahogany body and Chunky C profile neck, a two-piece maple top, and a silky smooth Indian rosewood fingerboard with 22 Historic narrow tall frets, Plek'd to perfection. Plug this beast into your favorite tube amp, and experience searing '50s PAF tones, courtesy of CustomBucker Alnico III unpotted pickups. Premium historical appointments, including cellulose Trapezoid inlays and vintage-style Kluson tuners complete this meticulous reissue.

Every inch of this Les Paul has vintage vibe

To capture the essence of the original 1958 Les Paul Standard, Gibson painstakingly re-created each part piece by piece. The mahogany body, 2-piece maple top, nitro finish, and Indian rosewood fingerboard are only the beginning. Not only do you get the Chunky C profile neck you've been craving, but the accuracy of the details go all the way down to the positioning of the instrument's vintage-style Kluson Waffleback tuners and the size and shape of its cellulose Trapezoid inlays.

CustomBucker pickups deliver pure vintage PAF tone

Gibson Custom paid just as much attention to this guitar's electronics as they did to its aesthetics. Every part of its internal signal path was designed to deliver dead-on 1958 Les Paul tone. Of course, it's next to impossible to find genuine '50s PAFs (even for Gibson). Instead, the 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS sports a pair of Gibson's CustomBucker humbuckers. The CustomBucker is the most historically accurate PAF copy ever. Take it from Sweetwater's guitar experts: The Gibson Custom 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS nails the original look, sound, and feel of a 1958 Les Paul.

Chunky C neck and Plek'd frets for optimized playability

Comfort and playability were two of Gibson's primary concerns when they were designing the 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS. You'll be delighted at how this guitar's Chunky C profile neck comfortably fills your hand in just the right way. For your playing pleasure, the bound Indian rosewood fingerboard is buffed to silky smoothness and the frets are dressed to perfection using a Plek Pro machine for optimized playability. Typically reserved for top-dollar custom guitars, this process levels the frets with pinpoint precision, providing you with the most playable fretboard you're likely to own.

Vintage Original Sheen finish, for the look and feel of a classic

Gibson Custom's Vintage Original Sheen finish option comes standard on Custom Shop Historic Reissue models. The VOS finish package includes lightly aged parts that imparts an authentic vintage patina. The nitrocellulose finished it buffed to a light matte appearance, giving a look and feel of a guitar that has been lovingly played and cared for over the years.

Best Les Paul I've had

I've had a '58 VOS for several years now. Out of the 50 or so guitars I have owned, this one is, without a doubt, the best. The pinnacle of American instrument craftsmanship. All the custom shop Gibsons are very nice, but the '58 VOS is really something special with the much larger neck and the awesome finish. I play 100-200 shows a year, and I am never let down by the tone and feel of this guitar. It also gets so many compliments from the audiences that I disguise it in a SKB case in order to hide its CS value. Mine has worn well, and has a really cool buckle hole in the back, but the top is almost like it was when I bought it new. The pickups have aged quit a bit, though. I haven't felt a need to alter or mod it in any way. 5 stars is not enough for these things...

Amazing Gibson Workmanship

I upgraded to this guitar coming from a Slash Gibson. Slash Gibson's are good but this 58 Gibson VOS Model is 4-5 Stars better in workmanship, materials, sound and play-ability. I received this guitar a day ago but let it sit for 24 hours to acclimate to the climate and temperatures in my house. That was actually recommended by Gibson itself. I was a bit hesitant to buy this guitar because of price and because it has tall/thin frets which I had never played before. I was used to the Slash model which has medium Jumbo frets. I was surprise the tall/thin frets played amazingly well and I had no problem with them. The guitar sound a bit brighter with more resonance. My second hesitation was the neck which has a baseball bat size neck. Surprisingly that played really nice as well. The materials, Indian Rosewood Neck, Body woods are premium and you can hear the difference right away.Brighter with more sustain, crisp and clean. The finish is magnificent. A super light coat so the wood can breath. Better sounding guitar. In summary, this guitar is the best guitar I've very played and held in my hands. I highly recommend it and I would not have any hesitation in spending the extra money to have this beauty. I rate this guitar a score of 10 Ten! Just buy it, you'll love it.
